New Official Portrait of The King Unveiled

An official portrait photograph of King Charles III has been unveiled. The portrait is intended for display in public buildings, such as government offices, courts and schools.

The picture was taken by Hugo Burnand, who also took official portrait photos of the King and Queen at Charles’ Coronation. In the new photo King Charles III is wearing a Royal Navy uniform, and an array of official medals and decorations.

The monarch is the Commander-In-Chief of the British Armed Forces. Before becoming King, Charles served in both the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force.

The government says it hopes many public bodies such as schools will accept the offer of a free framed portrait. It also clarified that the portrait is not intended to replace any photographs of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Instead the government suggests the new portrait should be hung alongside any older portraits.

  19. Very nice portrait. I understand that people are upset about QEII passing away but they took down portraits of George VI when he passed and put up portraits of the new queen. Everyone needs to toughen up. She would not want anyone to mourn like this. She was tough and worked literally until she died.

  28. I admit that when I was around 11, I had a crush on Prince Charles. 😂
    He still looks great, and I love this portrait of him. Queen Elizabeth would be proud of him. I see a lot of his mother in him as he gets older. Queen Camilla looks so beautiful. Its nice to see them both happy. I hope this year is a much better one for thier family. ❤❤

  35. Even as a Nigerian, I can't help but say that his majesty King Charles III is a great man and has long filled into the shoes of his mother.
    I think looking down from heaven, his mother her late majesty Queen Elizabeth II would be proud of him.

  43. This is a beautiful portrait of our lovely King. He has such a kindly face and he is still good looking even in his 70s. And he looks really well here. 😊
