China warns foreign officials against congratulating Taiwan elections • FRANCE 24 English

Not long after those election results the Taiwan Affairs office of China’s State Council said I quote Taiwan is China’s Taiwan this election cannot change the basic pattern and the development of cross street relations and since Beijing has been issuing warning messages to foreign officials who have congratulated linga for his win

On Saturday evening France’s foreign Ministry was actually one of those for example and the Chinese Embassy in Paris issued a statement saying I quote the Chinese province of Taiwan just organized local elections for local leaders these elections are domestic issues for which any irresponsible comments from Outsiders are unacceptable

Unquote the Chinese foreign Ministry also complained when um the US’s Secretary of State Anthony blinkin also congratulated lie warning that their Red Line must not be crossed and describing it as a Gravely wrong signal now these reactions are actually what you would expect from Beijing and are rather muted

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement following Taiwan’s presidential election Saturday that “the Taiwan question is China’s internal affair” and “the basic fact that …. Taiwan is part of China will not change.” US Secretary of State Antony Blinken congratulated Lai on his victory, and saying Washington looks forward to working with all of Taiwan’s leaders “to advance our shared interests and values.” China’s Foreign Ministry said the US statement “sends a gravely wrong signal to the ‘Taiwan independence’ separatist forces” and goes against a US commitment to maintaining only unofficial ties with Taiwan.

  2. Congrats! Oh China. You're like my useless brother who thinks he's the smartest person in the world because our parents didn't pay him enough attention. Meanwhile, everyone ignores him or do whatever it takes to annoy him. Because that's just super funtastic.

  4. Once again the CCP embarrasses themselves on the international stage. Despite Wang’s flatulence, Xi Jinping will do precisely nothing. He does not have the military fire power to take on Taiwan and her allies. Time now for the UN to recognise Taiwan as a fully independent sovereign state.

Is China really serious do they know how many people in Taiwan live 20+m and they can't even solve their internal issues many youths are no job in there and some company shut their doors in China unlike in Taiwan they have less problems and strong GDP per capital they work hard for it in the past years since it exist before CCP came and rule the mainland of China let Taiwanese people live in peace they're not a threat to China they just want to be a independent country like everybody else

  29. Mao Zedong in 1936 said Taiwan was never an integral part of China, only a former colony, so China would not claim it back from Japan but support their independence.
