Fujitsu’s Europe director, Paul Patterson, has admitted that his company – which developed the Horizon IT system – has a ‘moral obligation’ to contribute to financial redress for victims. Pressed by Labour MP Liam Byrne on compensation for victims, Patterson said: ‘I think there is a moral obligation for the company to contribute and I think the right place to determine that is when our responsibility is very clear. There are many parties involved in this travesty’.

  2. At last down to the truth. Who pays and how much. First claw back bonuses ( no chance). Then fine every exec and politican who represented victims who did nothing ( no
    Chance) then take all compensation from tax payers ( every chance)

  3. Fujitsu should compensate fully the people they caused injury to! No taxpayer money should be spent on this. Royal Mail are not at fault here. Fujitsu should be made to take full responsibility as well as make massive payouts to everyone who lost their businesses and were wrongfully accused!

  4. They wouldn't have offered compensation only now after being scrutinized in public.
    After all Fujitsu are the main cause of all this mis justice along with the Post Office

  5. Any amount of financial compensation, whilst much needed and justly so, will never atone for the great suffering and humiliation if the victims concerned. It would be just and proper to jail the main people responsible for this fiasco.

  6. I can’t fathom why Post decided to pursue people criminally and people ended up in prison. How could Post decide that many postmasters were systematically start stealing en mass from Post? Was there a history of this before? Sending people to jail for a software bug out of their control seems to actually be a failing in the police and legal system in the UK. Where was the evidence? Was the money found in their personal accounts or spending? Where did the proceeds of crime end up.m? Trying to blame Fujitsu seems to be along the lines of the same problem again. Yes they were responsible for the buggy software but the police, government and legal system in the UK is ultimately what caused these people to end up in prison or having their lives ruined. It appears this seems to now look a bit like a witch hunt which was the problem to begin with. Horrible state of affairs and really troubling on an international scale. A dark day for the UK.

  7. If there was no scandal, no public outcry, no media attention, Fujitsu would still be silent. Fujitsu would still be denying anything was wrong with their systems along with the Post Office.
