Catherine Princess of Wales has planned abdominal surgery | BBC News

Statement from Kensington Palace with regard to Katherine the Princess of Wales with me with me is Daniela Ralph our roal correspondent um so just take us through the statement yeah a surprise statement that came from Kensington Palace around 2:00 this afternoon completely out of the blue there had

Been no hint at all that the Princess of Wales had been in any way unwell uh the statement reads that she was admitted to the London Clinic here in central London um yesterday for Planned abdominal surgery um the surgery was successful but she’s expected to remain in hospital

For 10 to 14 days so up to up to two weeks recovering in hospital she’ll then return home to Windsor to recover um and she will not be carrying out uh any public duties at all during a recovery period which could take up to three months so clearly a serious condition

And a surprise development there um from the Princess of Wales absolutely no sign of any uh you know any difficulties any problems obviously saw over Christmas um sort of the usual pictures so as you said total Sur surprise yes I was at Sandringham on Christmas day so I saw

Her with my own eyes and she looked incredibly well and uh there has been no hint of any poor health at all from her um they’re not giving very much information from Kensington Palace as you would totally understand viewing it as a private medical matter it’s clearly

Serious she’s going to be in hospital uh for up to two weeks but the surgery was successful we have also been told that it’s not a non-cancerous condition that was being treated um she is not somebody that has been in poor health at all 42 years old extremely fit and healthy the

Only issues that have hospitalized her previously have been during her three pregnancies when she had uh hyperemesis gravidarum that’s extreme pregnancy sickness that meant she had to be hospitalized but other than that there have been no serious conditions that we’ve been made aware of at all um the

Statement does also say that they understand the prince and princess of Wales that there is going to be a huge amount of Interest here but they are very Keen to protect their privacy the medical privacy of The Princess and to look after their uh three young children

As well so they’ll only be providing updates when they see fit and when there’s something to say and clearly from that statement it looks like there’s going to be quite a long period of recuperation and any I mean there was talk this year of international you know travel with the couple clearly all

That’s going to be put on hold now yeah definitely um there was a mood that we were going to see much more of them this year and they were as you say doing a lot more international travel there was a trip actually planned to ity for them before Easter that now won’t be

Happening and I think the mood from the statement is that we won’t see very much at all of the prince and princess of Wales in the coming months Prince William will not be carrying out any public engagements at all while his wife is in hospital uh we’re also told that

He wants to spend as much time as possible with her when she’s back at Windsor recovering and helping to look after the children so he will cut back on his schedule as well and I don’t think we’ll be seeing um the Princess of Wales out on public duty doing any kind

Of raw engagement until after Easter okay Daniela Ralph our roal correspondent thank you

  1. It's so upsetting to see so many young, fit people get unwell very suddenly recently. Hope her treatments are effective but I'm sure she is in safe hands. You are in our thoughts Kate.

  2. Charles could not let Princess Kate be the concern of people for even a few hours. He has to be the center of attention. No one cares about his penis or how he pees. Remember he told everyone to go bugger themselves with coffee to cure cancer? Go take a coffee enema Chuckie and grow up.

  3. Must be all that housework she does? All that motherhood, you know lifting the kids, cooking cleaning etc. mad how the poor man will worship these free loaders yet step over a homeless person….. like a nightmare you can’t wake up from

  4. Why is this even a big news item with two women talking about basically 'nothing', is beyond me. Have the press still not learned their lesson. The lady specifically asked for privacy, what's going on here goes completely against the grain. A huge shame and why is the presenter wearing black?

  5. Princess of Wales had An intestinal Obstruction also known as Bowel Obstruction which generally is a complication of Crohn’s Disease. This info is per an American Psychic … Psychic never mentioned Crohn’s …Kate with her two weeks in hospital, and several months rest and recuperation will be fine. King Charles will also have an excellent recovery

  6. 💝💝💝💝Speedy recovery HRH Princess Catherine. With prays, hugs and best wishes. Jehovah Rapha😇😇😇💞💞💞❤‍🩹❤‍🩹🙏🙏 We also wish that the surgery process goes smoothly for the King's health. God save the King.

  7. The first bit of British news on the so-called 'British' Broadcasting Corporation in months, and naturally, it's about the Royal family. Why are we forced to pay for being ignored?

  8. Speedy recovery to kate, but if it was Meghan the so called royals, media and their cronies would want to see her in the Grave, I only hope all of you racist British know that pain, sickness and death is for the poor, middle class and the rich so when all of you hating Meghan and wishing the worst things to happen to her and all the negative thoughts please remember when you're digging, digTWO PITS because you could fall in the one you digged for the person
