South Africa and Israel respond to ICJ ruling on war in Gaza
We are satisfied uh that the provisional measures that we sought uh to be addressed would be uh uh addressed by the court and uh I believe if you read the convention very carefully uh the matter of uh how uh a war uh or conflict is conducted is not elaborated I would
Have wanted that the word cessation uh is included uh in the Judgment I have no way that I’m going to say I’m disappointed I hoped for it but the fact of delivering humanitarian Aid the fact of taking measures that reduce the levels of harm against persons who have
No role in what Israel uh is combating for me requires a ceasefire and I believe Israel would have to attend to how it conducts its search for the hostages and for those Hamas individuals who carried out the October 7 uh attack what’s the next St I’ve never really
Been hopeful uh about Israel uh but Israel has very powerful friends who I hope uh will advise Israel that they should act Israel’s commitment to international law is unwavering equally unwavering is our sacred commitment to continue to defend our country and defend our people like every country Israel has an inherent
Right to defend itself the vile attempt to deny Israel this fundamental right is blatant discrimination against the Jewish State and it was justly rejected the charge of genocide leveled against Israel is not only false it’s outrageous and decent people everywhere should reject it our war is against Hamas terrorists not against Palestinian
Civilians we will continue to facilitate humanitarian assistance and to do our utmost to keep civilians out of Harm’s Way even as Hamas uses civilians as human Shields we will continue to do what is necessary to defend our country and defend our people
in a historic decision, the UN’s international court of justice has ordered Israel to ensure its forces do not commit acts of genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
In an interim judgment delivered on Friday, the president of the court, Joan Donoghue, said Israel must ‘take all measures within its power’ to prevent acts that fall within the scope of the genocide convention and must ensure ‘with immediate effect’ that its forces do not commit any of the acts covered by the convention. The court stopped short of granting South Africa’s request to order an immediate ceasefire.

israle we have us suport we can do wat we wont …. the word..will remember ..🤔
there are a 500,000 IDF troops and this ruling for prosecution is going to be enormous, and im sure that those that run and over see Israels Govt will no doubt coverup officers who have abused, and currently abusing human rights in Palestine and its Arabic neighbors
Why don't South Africa take Russia to court too for killing man innocent children and people in Ukraine?
South Africa deflecting from their own disasters at home. South Africa will end up being just another failed African state reliant on foreign aid.
Nethanyahu should be trial …he is responsible for this.killings
South africa gives hope …they r the real heroes …thank you so much south africa..
And palestine has the right to defend itself against the brutal European occupiers
Setanyan niyahu
what icj did in bosnia serbia war. we already know it
ANC BRANDED THE MOST CORRUPT GOVERNMENT IN THE WORLD 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is a major victory for the State of Israel. A blessing for our mission in Gaza, not even a call for a ‘ceasefire’ let alone a characterisation of ‘genocide’ for our actions. Thank you South Africa for validating us.
Free palestine
Thank you South Africa ❤
Thank coming from Egypt.
We arab ashamed that we couldn't do anything 😔
Israel is losing soldiers because its going out of it's way to protect citizens. SA needs to get it's own house in order before interfering with a just war.
Israel always give the same excuse that state is full of robots 😂😂😂😂
Wouldn't be surprised by black folks opposition here, remember Idi Amin 😂
The 1st speaker made so much sense, the 2nd speaker was a talking garbage.
It is interesting to note that the countries that support genocide in Gaza are themselves committed mass murders and genocide of indigenous population such as Australia, USA, Canada and other colonial countries!
Naledi, has such high moral standards she holds Israel too. Unfortunately 4.8 million children in SA are without any food.
Stop UN aid to South Africa! Defund UN!
More than 500,000 South Africans have been murdered since the ANC started governing. Makes Gaza an attractive place to immigrate to.
Please President Ramaphosa, don't hide the cash Iran has given you in your couch😂😂
As described by the third of Newton's laws of motion of classical mechanics, all forces occur in pairs such that if one object exerts a force on another object, then the second object exerts an equal and opposite reaction force on the first.[1][2] The third law is also more generally stated as: "To every action there is always opposed an equal reaction: or the mutual actions of two bodies upon each other are always equal, and directed to contrary parts."[3] The attribution of which of the two forces is the action and which is the reaction is arbitrary. Either of the two can be considered the action, while the other is its associated reaction.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
south Africa can't even keep it's electricity on…maybe they should work on that first.

Common people needs to obey the law very heavily. While the rich people can just ignore the law.
The real crime is in South Africa with the slaughter of the white farmers!!!
South Africa❤❤
Yes true Israel,
This is a joke! South Arica can not even rule its own country… a corrupt government now the hero in the eyes of others… SA can't controle its crime… people dying of murders every day! Biggest joke of the year! Come back and try to rule your own country!!!! I cant believe taxpayers must pay for this trip! Hope Israel know they have alot support from people in South Africa
So they're just gonna use someone as a human shield against a tank….nahhh
Long live south Africa
I expect you to first ask why Gaza and hamas first launch attack on ISTRAEL?
F… the Guardian, i hope Israel is achieving all it`s goals and pray for that. Greetings from a portuguese in germany.
"If human rights is so important to the ANC, why have they legislated the racist and discriminatory apartheid laws?"
You fighting a war with people with no arms .
South Africa ❤
I dislike this woman intensly😊
U said, provisional measure, and seek of seize fire 🔥 that is clear and acepted, but question ❓ what is ur punishment taken on Hamas the terrorist?
Why cant a country protect itself, againnst terrorism
How is it that you acuse Hamas using civilians as human shield when you're CARPET BOMBING THRM?
If there ever was anything called justice among elites then George bush and tony blair wouldn't be free today.
Israel predictably set on ignoring the judgement of the ICJ. But it IS a game changer, as we watch Netanyahu's 'house of cards' slowly–but surely–fall.
IT doesn't matter what ICJ rules, South Africa will forever be remembered
