Ukraine allies launch ‘artillery coalition’ to boost depleted supplies • FRANCE 24 English

We had this coming out of Paris followed following on from Germany Olaf Schulz saying I think more than 7 billion um Euros in aid from Germany coming through this year and Ola Schultz calling on other European countries to do more so this is all good news from the Ukrainian

Point of view in terms of the Europeans um promising that they will keep helping uh the ukrainians Vladimir zalinski thanked Emmanuel macron yesterday for this uh artillery coalition announcement it’s believed the French President will quite soon visit Kev and sign some kind of uh security um guarantee or security

Assurance probably they will call it deal with Ukraine similar to the one the United Kingdom signed um recently so all that is seen as good news in Ukraine but everything really depends on whether the United States are going to come through and then also ukrainians are somewhat skeptical until they actually see the

Weapons on the field about where the promises are going to be kept the big headline for this artillery Coalition that was announced yesterday is France providing some 78 Caesar howitzers um these are weapons that have performed very well on the Ukrainian front lines apparently the French are actually

Adapting them drawing on the experience that these weapons have had in Ukraine so that’s one way the ukrainians say that it’s actually good for the weapons manufacturers and for the countries that are making them as well to be able to test them in Ukraine 78 is a very big

Number far more than they’ve had so far but actually fun ing for uh only 18 of those 78 is actually assured six of them are being paid for by Ukraine 12 by France France is asking the other members of this Coalition that’s been announced to foot the bill for the

Remaining 60 and it’s not yet clear whether they will

Ukraine warned Thursday that its army faces a “very real and pressing” ammunition shortage in its war against Russia, as Western allies agreed new artillery supplies. A new 23-nation effort was agreed at a meeting in Paris as Russia claimed its forces had taken a village near the hard-fought city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine. FRANCE 24’s Gulliver Cragg reports from Ukraine.

  1. Even during ww2, the germans had to invade russia in order to keep its war machine going. Europe just does not have enough natural resources to produce weapons for a war. It is possible for imports for produce the weapons, but that will be expensive than what the russians can produce.
