Post office gaslighted me and turned me into a ‘basket case’ for years, says former subpostmaster

Wasn’t Tech ay at all back in back 20 years ago and yeah they convinced me it was my fault and that kind of it was before the days of social media so you felt like you were I really was alone and I thought I must have pressed something and reversed something that

Then doubled the next day and yeah I I just thought I’d made a hash of it but when ultimately I went to court and it and made the national papers and people rang me up after seeing the piece in the paper and I realized it wasn’t me

Wasn’t just me then you it just makes you so angry that you know they literally gaslit me for about 3 years that you know and turned me well not into a basket case but pretty much um and then I just that lit a fire um and yeah thank goodness we had the publicity

Because we joined up but you know that’s is wrong but it’s taken this long

A former subpostmaster has accused the Post Office of gaslighting her and “turning her into a basket case”, an official inquiry heard.

Jo Hamilton, one of the many subpostmasters wrongly accused of theft, also criticised the red tape and bureaucracy involved in the Horizon scandal compensation schemes.

Giving evidence at the inquiry on Tuesday (16 January), she said: “After the court case I realised it wasn’t just me, it just makes you so angry. They gaslit me for about three years and pretty much turned me into a basket case.”
