Astronomers find what may be the universe’s brightest object with a black hole devouring a sun a day

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away the light from what could be the brightest object ever discovered began traveling towards Earth on Monday a team of scientists revealed that what four decades had been believed to be a star relatively close to Earth is in fact a

Quazar so distant that the light we now see dates to near the creation of the universe it’s a time when we astronomers get to be children again and we expected this to be just a normal star because of how bright it looks but in fact it’s

Within 1.5 billion years of the of the universe’s existence and and it’s just uh it’s just so extraordinary when we when we identify this object quazars are super massive black holes surrounded by accretion discs of material being pulled in by gravity as that material approaches Event Horizon it heats up

Emitting vast amounts of radiation this quazar known as J 0529 4351 is 12 billion light years away the black hole at its Center 17 billion times the mass of our sun it’s a cre disc pouring out 500 trillion times the Sun’s light the team led by scientists at Australian National University

Confirmed their findings with help from the European Southern observatories Outpost in aracama Chile quazars emit light relative to the growth of their black hole and this is the fastest ever discovered devouring the equivalent of one Sun per day

Astronomers have discovered what may be the brightest object in the universe, a quasar with a black hole at its heart growing so fast that it swallows the equivalent of a sun a day. The record-breaking quasar shines 500 trillion times brighter than our sun. The black hole powering this distant quasar is more than 17 billion times more immense than our sun, an Australian-led team reported Monday in the journal Nature Astronomy.
