Remembering Richard Lewis: star of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ and acclaimed comic

It’s a self-portrait that’s you what do you think a self-portrait means yeah that’s me that’s like you from 50 years ago no this is me now what I don’t care about you play cuz my bird died and you sent the most ridiculous despicable text sorry about your bird the good news

Is I’m still alive he loves that was uh I’ll tell you something I had to said I got I had hepatitis but when you get old you know crap happens like like this morning I I I tried to go to bed as I couldn’t sleep and I counted sheep but

My only had six of them and they all had hip replacements how you doing I’m you know I have a fever but I I miss you and I miss your clothes you know that what don’t start again but hey what’s my problem what’s your for me I have bad

Posture I have low self-esteem I’m unhappy about it I I could blame my parents I just I well I’m screwed up she says don’t you want to have an or orgasm and I said what’s in it for me you know so I just spent about a week with family

And I am absolutely thrilled and delighted to be here in front of strangers you have no idea Majesty stop me if I’m wrong about this but wasn’t you a mole on the other side I have a mole I have always felt I was riddled with the low self esteem because of my

Upbringing and uh and um and once I realize I can weave it into some kind of uh not gold but something positive for other people and myself and get validated that desperation was my strength

The acclaimed comedian was a regular performer in clubs and on late-night TV for decades and was known for exploring his neuroses in stream-of-consciousness diatribes, leading to his nickname The Prince of Pain. Lewis said last year that he had Parkinson’s disease and was stepping off the standup stage. Despite that partial retirement, he was in the currently airing Season 12 of Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO.
