The Way, a bold new drama about an ordinary family caught up in extraordinary events that ripple out following a civil uprising in their industrial hometown, Port Talbot.

Ambitious, powerful and surprising, The Way imagines a family caught up in a civil uprising which begins in their small industrial town. Fleeing unrest, the Driscolls are forced to escape the country they’ve always called home and the certainties of their old lives. Will they be overwhelmed by their memories of the past, or will they lay their ghosts to rest and take the risk of an unknown future? With wit and powerful emotion, The Way taps into the chaos of today’s world through the fictional story of an ordinary family caught up in an extraordinary chain of events.

Directed by Michael Sheen, Written by James Graham, and created by Sheen, Graham and Adam Curtis. Steffan Rhodri, Mali Harries, Sophie Melville, Callum Scott Howells and Michael Sheen lead the cast as the Driscoll family, with Maja Laskowska as a young woman caught up in the family’s escape.

  1. The Monks Curse…

    For 800 years this wall as stood
    On the grounds where steel is king;
    A legend of a ghostly ghoul
    A curse to a town that story bring.
    The monk of Port Talbot, an eerie figure
    Roams this land, this sacred place;
    Keeping watch upon his dwelling
    With fiery eyes upon his face.
    This wall stands alone, a final reminder
    a warning of impending doom;
    To a town with so much history
    A curse that brings, a vail of gloom..
    For if that wall should ever crumble
    If every brick or stone should fall;
    To this town unimaginable suffering will then follow
    A statement , a warning to us all..
    The monk of Port Talbot
    That ghostly figure
    With fire burning in his eyes;
    Take heed now and guard his dwelling
    For that curse lay where he lies…

  2. Thought the storyline and acting was good. Spoilt by the dark filters In daylight and trying to work out what was going on in the never ending dark scenes. Not willing to watch a pretty much black screen. Director might think its arty, I thought it was crap and spoilt it.

  3. Port Talbot resident. My objective review would be it has big ideas but too low a budget to do them justice and it crumbles under the weight of them. And too many similarities to "Years and Years" for comfort. That having been said, my subjective review is I loved every bonkers minute of it. I hope there will be a second season and that it embraces the surreal and ditches the mythical melodrama.

  4. It was a good mini series but could have been a lot better and was a but clichéd at times. The first epsisode was good and built up the tension a bit, but it did lose it's way a bit after that – no pun intended. They should have stayed in Wales for the whole uprising and concentrated on that. I guess they left it open for second series.

  5. All four episodes, no sorry the 3….
