American here, don’t. Just fucking don’t. You don’t want none of this privatized health care Dewy Cox
What is the GPs wage and health and social care levy for? What is the NHS?
This is targeted for the public to pay the gps national insurance increase all whilst saying they’ve reduced our bill but actually double it by doing this…
Yet people can find the cash for the pub and spend £7 on a pint of beer pretty regularly or a packet of cigarettes.
Guess some people just get lucky and find some cash at the back of the sofa regularly.
I’d happily pay £5 for an appointment with a doctor it would stop time wasters and people who just don’t turn up
Also doctors work insane hours and deal with some of the worst creatures in humanity, have crippling debts from spending upwards of 7 years at university.
My doc told me this IS going to happen sooner or later
Are you fucking joking 😭
I’m starting to think the tories just want poor people to die.
It’s cool sajid we already do pay to see them
We already do pay to see a doctor! It’s called general taxation and National Insurance contributions!!! What a 🤡
I once had to mic up Javid for an interview. I remember him saying as he was growing up he only cared about earning lots of money and being rich. Not famous, not known for something good, not even liked or loved or to have a family. No, he just wants to be rich.
He is the pinnacle of tory and should be treated as such.
On the flip side, take a country like Sweden, which I think most people would agree isn’t an ultra-capitalist shithole. Doctor’s appointment is 50 kronor.
Why is this? Because it deters people from attending multiple times for little or no reason. Such “worried well” appointments drain working time away from other people who may need care, and it also functions as a potential sanction for people who miss or waste appointments because they’re losing money they would otherwise have.
Unfortunately, everything being free promotes an attitude of “fill your boots” with some people, and because doctors have a duty to care for everyone, they end up spending an inordinate amount of time with some people to the detriment of others.
That’s not to say I support this particular measure, but it’s not out of left field or even really evidence everything will immediately be privatized (there’s plenty of other evidence for that though). Having identified the problem is anxious people attending often for usually trivial reasons, it would be sensible to do something within the actual service to accommodate them rather than deter them. However this is difficult and the government does like easy solutions that are far from optimal.
I wonder how much united healthcare, Aetna, Cigna, blue cross blue shield put in his pockets to say this.
Ha dint we already pay to see them with NI…..?
You cant blame him, his confusion stems from the fact that we already pay to see DRs, by paying tax, he doesnt pay tax, soassumes we arent.
Boy is he going to feel silly when he realises
Well, he is a tory
It’s what they want…it’s what they always want..covid..massive agenda behind covid, how else can you explain millionaires becoming billionaires in the uk? We were robbed..still being robbed, and our fucked government no matter Who is in power is corrupt to the core
The most incompetent government in the history of incompetent governments!
Sad to see the NHS, pretty much one of the best things about the UK and people are extremely proud of, being neglected, chopped up and sold off.
I don’t think any UK resident wants the NHS to dissappear, as much as people complain about it, when I needed it, I was so thankful it was ther
Not saying scrap the NHS altogether or anything but I would happily chuck my GP a tenner if it meant I could actually get an appointment sometime this month.
So much for the £350m a week extra for the NHS pledge then
No. Why can’t the government just properly fund the NHS like they’re supposed to!!!!
Er, this is not current news though it it, this was Jan 2023, he’s long gone and not in the cabinet.
It might happen at some point, but this was him discussing wider NHS reform and hasn’t been put into place so I don’t see the point of this post as it’s scaremongering.
Someone I know in the states has just been diagnosed with cancer. The diagnosis (no treatment at this point) is already to the tune of $28,000.

They already tried this bullshit before https://www.gponline.com/average-gp-practice-face-15000-hit-national-insurance-hike/article/1728627
All of this is preorchestrated.
Yes the idea is that poor people just die
