The Met Police and violence against women | Sarah Everard: The Search For Justice – BBC

The Met is haunted by the rape and murder of Sarah everard but abuse in the ranks is something all forces are having to come to terms with a former greater Manchester police officer who groomed Cadets on a scheme run by the force has been jailed for 5 years South Wales

Police officer who blackmailed and threatened underage girls to send him explicit photos of themselves on Snapchat has been jailed for Life Shannon mhall told us how PC Simon Miller escorted her to a woman’s refuge in Grimsby and then slept with her today he was jailed for 2 years and 4 months

With humberside police calling his actions utterly reprehensible it’s not very often that a case comes along that starts a national conversation but it is much bigger than just what we see in the police it’s what we see right across Society how issues of violence against women and girls are

Taken more generally and we see it seeping through to people’s everyday Behavior I don’t think that the incident is of violence against women and girls is reducing or decreasing in any way in fact it would appear to me that it’s getting worse can you leave me alone can

You leave me excuse me can you help me please can you leave me the alone go away what is wrong with you I’ll follow you though violence against women and girls is a men’s issue men need to speak up men need to stand with women and not against them Listen up men it’s time to do better that includes you that includes your dad that includes me that includes all men Sarah could have been any girl could have been my girlfriend but it’ll never be me it’ll never be me it never could have been me that’s what women feel in

Their bones right Now

The murder of 33-year-old Sarah Everard by a serving Metropolitan Police officer who abducted her as she walked to her home in south London in March 2021 was a watershed moment for the nation. It brought to the fore the devastating issue of male predators within the country’s police forces and highlighted the extent of violence against women and girls in British society – an issue recently declared a national priority alongside terrorism and organised crime.

This documentary looks at the Met’s investigation into Sarah’s murder, how this devastating crime unfolded and its impact – told by those closely involved in the case from the outset, many of whom are speaking on camera for the first time, including the senior investigating officer, Katherine Goodwin, the prosecuting barrister, Tom Little, and Sarah’s local MP, Bell Ribeiro-Addy.

  1. Today is International Women’s Day, more power to us, and for those without a voice. Where are all my guy friends and family, show me you stand beside us, with us, for us!

  2. Such a sad, horrible state of affairs. I fear its no better here in the U.S. Women have been preyed upon for centuries. We can only change this when men themselves see the reality of this horror. How many more sacrifices need to be made???

  3. Very sad to hear what happened to this woman, but he must be the World's dumbest police officer(unless he wanted to get caught) going. How did he not know his phone would be tracked and traced, how police would catch him through hiring a hire car, tracking CCTV through London. Shows the level of ignorance and arrogance in the police to think he could get away with something so terrible!

  4. By population mass it is at its lowest ever ….but with the amount of reports it seems to be worse ….
Should it stop ? Yes , will it ,No ….
You don’t need men to help you with your concerns about this …you need to be more vigilant and carry protection!
We all know she shouldn’t have walked home alone , yet she did nothing about it …
We all know those streets aren’t safe , yet she went ,it certainly isn’t her fault but could have been prevented!

  5. sadly same in America and it is bad! Report them and you are put through living hell there are god and bad in everyone. But even my NYPD friends had to come help me they where in shock. How sad but true in 2024 this is happening all over the world

  6. Murder, rape and violence had happened to wemon many decades before this evil act took place.
The reason why this case has had so much publicity is because the person who commited the crime was a serving police officer.
If the killer had been an average Joe then the crime would not have been in the public eye.
My comment is not meant to offend the female population but go back in time and there has been crimes commited towards wemon just as brutal.

  7. Ladies please take up boxing, kickboxing or jiu-jitsu.

Kickboxing in particular does not depend on muscle size but on agility. You really don't have to take this crap.

  8. Just imagine how a boy who has been a victim of female violence would feel on seeing this <sarcasm>'impartial and completely unbiased report.'<sarcasm>
As an adult survivor of female violence I find it quite upsetting.
