  1. From Birmingham came the biggest selling reggae band of all time also one of the biggest heavy metal acts
    UB40
    Ozzy Osbourne
Twenty minutes down the road half of Led Zeppelin Robert plant and John Bonham.

  2. Some of scenes are filmed in Wolverhampton.. this story could have been based on some real life rude boys, who were active in that period.. it’s a must watch for me …

  3. I was 12 in 1981 born 4 miles from Birmingham city centre, sorry after the first episode I’ve found it to depressing, obviously filming early morning or early evening for production and continuity purpose, couldn’t they afford extras never new brum was so under populated

  4. Watchin this now, bein from Wolverhampton but lived in Brum the last 5 years on an off…..applause to the creativity! Oh, and not Wolverhampton but Walsall…..(Same thing) 😂

  5. Not sure what these accents are supposed to be? Two episodes in and a mic has not been picked up yet. Also there are too many goofs. E.g. episode 2 11:45 in. The Rotunda building was an office block in 1981 not an apartment block as you can clearly see. Plus it was topped with a coca cola sign and a digital clock. Also maybe I'm missuing the point but this drama is supposed to depict the start of two tone. Two tone was already up and running for many years by 1981 and started in '79.

  6. The Show! It is terrible… Steven Knight has been taken over by the BBC Woke mind virus and his last few efforts have every indication that he can now only create by committee, with tick box casting and character points! My Evidence is he could have done a series on Black Sabbath and the birth of heavy metal in 1969 in Birmingham that changed the face of music, but he said he wasn’t interested! Or the rise of New Romantics that was independent of London that spawned Duran Duran in 1979, the band that shut down a street in New York when they arrived there for the very first time! Only The Beatles, Sinatra and Elvis had done that! But because of Diversity quoters and the bands being White, those important stories will never be produced today under the banner of the BBC! Or the British Arts Council!

Also Ska is a Jamaican Music that was recreated in Coventry, not Birmingham! Only the band The Beat from Birmingham could be considered Ska! UB40 would have a better choice, but they played Reggae!

Yet again, DEI has ruined another program from its very inception!!!

  7. Steven Knight has excelled again! I binge watched the series yesterday on BBC IPlayer. My favourite episode is 6, as I play the Bouncer on the Soho club at the start 😉

  8. if it was set in '79 or 80, it might be historically more correct but by 1981 the two tone label had moved on from 'ska' music. the specials werent making 'ska' music by then either. pretty poor brummie accents from many of the actors, a steven knight trademark. seemed like a kids tv drama but with violence. no doubt i will be flamed for making these comments. p.s. i was 17 in 1979, living in the midlands so i have first hand experience!

  9. A must-see, nothing like PEAKY BLINDERS yet just as mesmerising. Six episodes you will not notice the time, engaging plot brilliantly acted by a lesser-known Cast and may draw you to the M6 back and forth from Birmingham to Coventry x!

  10. BBC, HOW do you NOT include the YEAR in the title?!!?!!?
It's just NORMAL convention ffs! You're a 14.1M sub channel and a BIG organisation! Be professional! It's, "This Town" (2024) – yes, with the "'s too! It's the TITLE OF A SHOW!

  11. Born and Lived in West Bromwich During those times stone throw from WBA football club and Handworth. My hubby mother lived in Lozells Road good old days. Not great times these. Good programme thou

  12. I am everything this film is about and truthfully they have a lot wrong
Irish blues fan and born in the early 70s
It does bring back, happy memories though
