Netanyahu revives moves to shut Qatar’s Al Jazeera TV in Israel • FRANCE 24 English

By an overwhelming vote, Israel’s parliament has empowered the prime minister to ban news networks, including the Qatar-based network Al Jazeera from operating in Israel. The legislation targets media which “harms the state’s national security”. Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu gave his opinion on X, calling Al Jazeera “the terror channel”.   2. If Israelis see and have proves that this is a terror network, they've every right to take it down. Democracy doesn't mean terror groups should have the right to possess a television network.

  9. Makes sense given Al Jazeera is more propaganda than news. Other countries might consider similar legislation to address Skynews (Fox) as an extremist propaganda outlet.

  23. France 24, when you report a 32,000 death toll for Palestinian (given to you by Hamas authority)
    could you verify the # of Hamas combatants killed or captured, and Israeli killed or held captured.
    Please remember , this is a war, and in every war throughout history, unfortunately, there are civilian deaths, especially in a case where one side is deeply entrenched within the civilian population.
    As a major news source , this would lead to a more sufficient and un-biased news report, that is trustworthy.

  24. Al-Jazeera is neither independent, nor is it 'free press' . I'm not too surprised re. American comments- why ? They tolerrate chaos(led by Republicans), and, their press considers that ' it's normal ' .Life's just one long cartoon !

    So, there are limits to freedom of speech and things that you can do in free society, because there are evil people with evil plans sometimes.
