Building collapses on busy street as powerful quake hits Taiwan

CCTV footage shows a multi-storey building collapsing on a busy street in Hualien, as Taiwan was hit by its strongest earthquake in 25 years. The quake, given a magnitude of 7.2 by Taiwan’s earthquake monitoring agency and 7.4 by the US, struck close to the popular tourist city of Hualien, on Taiwan’s eastern coast, damaging buildings and trapping people amid aftershocks from the quake, which started at 7.58am.

  1. Look at this woman who was trying to get out of the car, she was suddenly stopped by the wire of her devices, and try to clean her place first !

  2. Are you seeing what im seeing? So, the building in front starts to collapse, and the lady in the car is not running for safety, but instead is searching for something in the car.

  3. Notice that the person getting out of the blue car and running towards the white car trips and apparently falls head first into the bumper of the white car.

  4. I'm sorry but that woman in the white car she made a very bad decision of what not to do when a buildings collapsing over your car… 😢 Seriously stop to grab something out of the car

  5. The infrastructure is amazing. Compared to middle eastern pancaking, these buildings stay relatively well intact even when they fall sideways. Thats is million times better than pancaking.

  6. Seems like the commercial ground floor took the liberty of getting rid of some structural elements in the corner…
So bad to see most people suffer from one's local vendor's greed and stupidity.
