Moment lorry driver narrowly escapes being crushed by avalanche of giant boulders

Two lorry drivers miraculously escaped unhurt when an avalanche of giant boulders crushed their vehicles as they drove along a mountain road in Peru.

Dashcam footage showed the fast-moving rocks smashing into one of the freight lorries, sending it flying into the air and landing on its side.

  1. A landslide is soil, trees, vegetation and rocks sliding. A rock fall is rock breaking off a cliff face. A rockslide is rock and boulders sliding down a slope without soil movement. The Daily Mail reports got the term right, most other news media went with landside. An avalanche is a very fast snowslide, the Telegraph lack good editors.
