‘What the heck was that?’: earthquake hits New Jersey

A 4.8 magnitude earthquake hit the New York City metropolitan area, centering on New Jersey, on Friday, causing a tremor which was felt along the US east coast. The US president, Joe Biden, said he spoke to the governor of New Jersey, Phil Murphy, who said the earthquake had not caused significant concern

  1. A 4.8 earthquake had President Biden talking to the governor? I didn't think this low of a magnitude would cause even a slight amount of concern for possible structural damage.

    Don't get me wrong, that's definitely a shake that East Coast folks are not used to, and the 4.8 magnitude can rattle even some of us who are used to those, but, to have the president talk to the governor seems a bit dramatic.

  3. Earthquake and a solar eclipse. I wonder if the relation of the planets is slightly out of balance like was back with the 2004 Tsunami in Asia. From the Earth perspective most of the planets were grouped together on one side.
