How do I keep herons away from my pond? I have fishes, frogs and salamanders, and I don't want the heron to eat them. I don't want to put up a net because there are other birds that drink water and I don't want them to get stuck in the net.
I know plastic figures won't work because I've seen videos of herons coming in even though there is a plastic heron.
I'm thinking of putting something for the fish to hide in, but I'd rather keep the heron away.

Why would you? 🙈
Herons needa lot of space to land and to take off – So make it difficult for them to do that.
Shrubs all around that are very wide and open. Then they cannot get there. Think of the wingspan.
I have no more advise to give but wanted to add that I love your pond and the whole garden! It’s beautiful.
I had success with a reflective ball on the water, something like [this](https://www.aqua-pond24.de/Superfish-Reiherschreck-Heron-Scare-Reflektor?pla=2&adw=6&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw_e2wBhAEEiwAyFFFowVf0GQb_gJqY6hD2XVl0diOBS_5sSx4qrOqFGrKEgB6_XU6RKZNpRoCIioQAvD_BwE)

Du brauchst dafür allerdings einen WasserAnschluss, das Teil benötigt LeitungsDruck.

Air rifle works well
Shotgun ?
In my area they sell lifelike plastic heron figures that are a bit bigger than real ones. Apparrently they are solitary, and when they see a bigger and stronger one they stay away from it. Dont know if it actually works though.
