‘People are very worried’: Iran imminent attack threat puts Israel on edge • FRANCE 24 English

well for the very latest we can cross to
Jerusalem and speak to our correspondent
Iris mackler Iris clearly concern is
growing over a reprisal attack from Iran
what’s the mood like there are people
worried about it people are very worried
I’ve been away uh and I when I when I’ve
come back I really feel the difference
because before there was concern over
Gaza there was concern over the
escalation with Lebanon in the north
over the escalation in the West Bank but
now the talk is all over this Iranian
attack uh which you are hearing from
various sources uh American Intel
Israeli Intel is really imminent uh
Israelis see These Warnings from um
France from the US to its staff here and
that adds to their concerns and they’re
concerned about two things one is
obviously you know could the attack harm
them but the second is what kind of
escalation would this be because we
haven’t seen this in this conflict or
really at all I just want to REM people
of the geography Israel and Iran are not
that not neighboring states Iran would
have to send its missiles missiles
across Iraq and Jordan to reach Israel
but we have seen during this war Yemen
was doing that from uh where its region
in the Red Sea so it is possible it is
frightening and if Israel retaliates
inside uh Iran as they are threatening
to do if they’re attacked then this
takes this whole it it’s a conflagration
and and it’s a different order from
everything that we’ve seen so far
terrible as that has been yes sois as
you’re saying a a lot of worry a lot of
uncertainty also How likely is an attack
really given the consequences that it
would
have that is the question everyone is
asking because we’ve just seen an
American Intel report today saying that
an attack is imminent within the next 24
to 48 hours we were reporting yesterday
on France 24 that the US has asked its
Middle Eastern I Saudi Iraq the UAE to
get send messages to Iran and to ask
them to reduce the pressure and lessen
the tension because there could be a
response both from Israel and the us
today we’re seeing reports in some
papers suggesting that what Iran is
saying is that it will respond uh to
that attack on its consulate on April
1st but it may not respond from its own
territory so on some reports we’re
seeing uh that it’s imminent on another
other reports we’re seeing that it’s
winding back the truth is that we don’t
know but because of the severity of this
uh we are hearing from Israel’s defense
minister a warning to the people of
Israel uh not to panic you know just to
be prepared but what does that mean in
in case of this kind of conflagration so
I think it’s safe to say that this next
48 hours is critical this whole week to
come uh is a time of great tension here
