Surveillance video caught the moment the earthquake hit the Ma Cherie maternity centre in Taipei. Taiwan is still assessing the aftermath of the quake – given a magnitude of 7.2 by the national earthquake monitoring agency, 7.4 by the US and 7.7 by Japan – which struck near Hualien.

Well trained and brave to remain focused on the job to overcome fear of own's life. I recall my experience in Taiwan when an earthquake of this size hit my instinct was to run outside and surely I did act on my instinct. The flight response is so real and strong it's hard to override.

As a father of a daughter who was taken care of in a post-partum centre in Taiwan, I say THANK YOU.
花蓮慈濟醫院嬰幼兒加護病房的護士也令人敬佩。不但要護住重症嬰兒還要穩住呼吸器等醫療設備。
