Gaza protesters defy Columbia deadline to leave campus • FRANCE 24 English

the pro Palestinian encampment at
Colombia University remains in place and
the students defiant despite an
ultimatum by University authorities to
leave the University president said
Colombia would not give into the
protesters demands to divest from Israel
but the students are
Resolute we were threatened to basically
that we be suspended or we leave uh
obviously no one here has left uh and
everyone here is willing to put
everything on the line for it and and I
assume beside this picket we have a lot
of here people here to watch and support
us and hopefully you know the school
will come to its senses the university
in uptown Manhattan has become the
epicenter of pro Palestinian protests
that have spread across the country at
the University of Texas at Austin Police
dismantled the protest camp and made
several arrests on Monday while at Brown
University in Rhode Island protesters
claimed a breakthrough in negotiations
with college authorities over their
demands for divestment from Israel and
tonight we’re writing our own proposal
and we are bringing it to back to the
administration tomorrow this is a huge
concession from them we’re forcing them
to play at our table rather than theirs
and um I think that really shows the
like immense power of the student
movement on campus critics of the
encampment say they forment
anti-Semitism something protesters
firmly deny at the University of
California in Los Angeles there was a
tense standoff between Pro Palestinian
students and pro-israel count Central
protesters there have been several
clashes between the two parties over the
weekend more than 350 people have been
arrested on campuses over the past few
days with the White House calling on
demonstrations to remain peaceful
