Hamas delegation returns to Cairo for truce talks • FRANCE 24 English

Hamas has sent a delegation to Cairo for the second time this week saying it hopes to finish discussions CIA director William Burns reportedly arrived in the city on Friday both parties are set to hold talks with Egyptian mediators as Egypt leads efforts to broker a ceasefire in the deal currently on the table fighting would be stopped for several weeks while hostages are exchange for Palestinian prisoners but a fundamental disagreement remains Hamas wants a permanent truce while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to crush their remaining fighters in the city of Rafa he’s under pressure to bring the remaining hostages home after more than 100 were released during November’s truce I can tell you that we are determined to return everyone the ones who are alive as well as those who are dead we’ve brought back 124 as of today but there are more we will not forget anyone this week Israeli authorities said two people thought to be hostages were in fact killed during the October the 7th attack draw or from the Bayer Kuts and Elia Kim livan a security guard at the Nova Music Festival whose remains were found on Israeli territory

Hamas said its delegation was heading to Cairo on Saturday to resume Gaza truce talks. Fundamental disagreements between the warring sides remain: Hamas seeks a permanent ceasefire while Israeli PM Binyamin Netanyahu vows to crush Hamas fighters in Rafah.
