The US is not authoritarian’: students have right to protest, not vandalism, says Biden

we are not an authoritarian Nation where we silence people or squash descent the American people are heard throughout our history we’ve often face moments like this because we are a big diverse freethinking and freedom loving nation and moments like this are are always those who rush and to score political points but this isn’t a moment for politics it’s a moment for clarity so let me be clear peaceful protest in America violent protest is not not protected peaceful protest is it’s against the law when violence occurs destroying property is not a peaceful protest it’s against the law vandalism trespassing breaking Windows shutting down campuses forcing the cancellation of classes and graduations none of this is a peaceful protest threatening people intimidating people instilling fearing people is not peaceful protest it’s against the law descent is essential to democracy but descent must never lead to disorder or to denying the rights of others so students can finish the semester and their college education

US president Joe Biden said the US wasn’t an authoritarian country and the right to protest was protected but ‘vandalism, trespassing, breaking windows’ would not be tolerated during an address from the White House on the student campus Gaza protests.

  1. President Joe Biden believes that the United States is not an authoritarian country and that students have the right to protest. However, he also emphasizes that this right does not extend to vandalism or any form of violence. Biden supports peaceful protests and encourages students to voice their opinions and concerns, but he strongly condemns actions that cause harm or destruction.

  3. Imagine in 40 years from now being asked by your grandchild, 'what did you do when the genocide of Gasa was happening?'… Student,- 'I protested'… Coppers,- 'I beat and arrested the people protesting it'…

  4. This is a very different attitude to how the dems treated all the blm demos and destruction. I mean, yeah, he is right here saying actual peaceful demo only are ok – I just want to know why the change in attitude?

  5. As a British citizen I cannot even stand to look at this sorry excuse for a human being. And as for our own politicians or any other world leaders who support him they are even worse

  6. Joe Biden is a complete joke. He has lost the control of a nation, sme as teh conservatives here in the UK. Anarchy is but a few steps away, as is the devil's glee.

  7. The USA is not authoritarian so does not use force, but has been involved in more wars than any other nation in the world and has used the atomic bomb on civilians. Maybe it didnt like their opinions. Students should be there to learn and if they cause any alarm or distress to other students they should be banned from universities regardless of what or whom they think they support!
