China suspected of hacking UK armed forces payroll
China has rejected suggestions it was behind the hacking of a payroll system containing details of UK Armed Forces Personnel a spokes person for the Chinese Embassy called it militia slander the ministry of Defense says they took immediate action on discovering the Cyber attack there has been a uh a data breach relating to people’s uh bank accounts and names uh very limited uh element that’s to do with people’s addresses but the important thing is that what the ministry of Defense has done is cut cut that from the internet so taking it offline uh are there to advise and support people as necessary

Did China do it? Dunno. Maybe. Can digital activity be masked and presented as coming from one place and actually come from another (like, from Israel, as just an example)? Yes. Have western governemens been running operations against their own people for the last 25 years (minimum), and then blaming an external party for the sake of justifying hostile activities against said party, and further control of their own people? Absolutely
Maybe the information was retrieved from a government laptop left on a train or inside a taxi. Wouldn't be the first time it's happened.
