Putin orders tactical nuclear weapon drills and threatens strikes on UK military targets

there are a number of developments in Ukraine today first in the information War Russia’s defense Ministry has announced it’s carrying out tactical nuclear weapons drills as part of military exercises the Kremlin describing the move as a response to Western threats over Ukraine we’ve also heard from Moscow that according to AFP news agency that it could launch strikes at quote British military targets inside Ukraine and elsewhere if ke’s forces use British supplied missiles coming off the back of comets SP Lord Cameron the foreign secretary in the UK who said that keev absolutely had the right to strike back at Russia including outside of Ukraine territory in Russian territory so let’s bring in Angela diffley uh International Affairs editor hello Angela first of all let’s begin with the rhetoric coming from Russia and what perhaps is behind it yeah so uh Russia has said they will be conducting uh nuclear drills in response to this as they call it provocation threat from various Western uh voices uh and they have called in two ambassadors the UK Ambassador and the French Ambassador uh first of all if we take a look at what uh Cameron said last week uh when a batch of uh equipment was delivered to Ukraine he didn’t specifically say uh this can be used in Russia but it was a bit more open-ending ended than is usual usually uh it is rather uh left unsaid and uh he said Ukraine will use uh our supplied equipment as it sees fit and also last week Emmanuel mcon in a much publicized interview with the economist uh again refused to rule out uh boots on the ground in Ukraine he refuses to broadcast red lines and this has irked Russia too now again uh everything should be seen in a domestic context tomorrow uh is a major ceremony uh opening uh officially uh Putin’s fifth term as president there will also be a ceremony this week their usual military day on the 9th of May so it’s all about as well uh pumping up Russia’s uh importance and strength so he will be doing that nevertheless this is a new level of signaling doing nuclear drills is not unus usual linking them explicitly uh to these two uh developments last week is a new level of signaling and it is intended to uh ramp up the temperature meanwhile on the ground in Ukraine right now in the East Russia saying today it’s taking two more Villages yes reports of taking two more Villages uh also it it should be noted you know Ukraine uh they are waiting for that $60 billion of weaponry to arrive uh they need May is going to be difficult then they need to hold the line then we’re being told possible offensive in 2025 their main problems now are draft dodging a little bit if they can get through May they need to sort out the issue of unwillingness to join up in Ukraine and they need to worry about whether Donald Trump might get in and want a quick negotiated end to this War I think we need to just quickly mention the Journey of Emanuel mcon which was uh a much feature behind of uh Putin’s reaction Emanuel mcco who went from saying let us not humiliate Russia to being on a mission really to uh broadcast what he sees as the existential threat from Russia to Europe he’s even talking about extending the protection of France’s nuclear capabilities to the rest of Europe he wants to broaden it to uh all of geographical Europe pulling together and Manufacturing more because he’s really worried it’s an interesting moment for it to happen Angela thank you Angela diffley our International Affairs editor

Moscow on Monday said it that it could launch strikes at British military targets inside Ukraine and elsewhere if Kyiv’s forces used British-supplied long-range missiles to strike Russia. The statement issued by the Russian foreign ministry came after British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said during a visit to Ukraine that Kyiv “absolutely has the right to strike back at Russia”.   8. Macron and Cameron are nut jobs. They have interests in Ukraine. They are leading their countries to total destruction. Any British or French troops detected in Ukraine will be promptly removed.

  29. Macron did well by backing down from 'send troops' strategy ambiguity or risk Russia striking or declaring war on France.

  30. UK strategy is hiding behind Ukraine and NATO and trying to damage Russia from there, thinking they are "untouchable". In such a situation, it is completely appropriate for Russia to strike UK, if weapons deliberately delivered by UK for such purpose are used to strike Russia. At that point, UK can cry for Article 5 all they want.

Zelensky can’t win other wise we have been told that for over 18 months and Zelensky is sending his people to their graves for the likes of BlackRock and Monsanto the Americans own he Ukraine !
