Russia Victory Day parade: Only one tank on display

well initially it was snowing quite heavily well uh thousands of service men paraded through the square it is the 79th anniversary of Victory Day and an opportunity for the country to put some of its military capability on display but of course many Russian troops are fighting in Ukraine after the full scale invasion in 2022 now it was all watched on by President Putin who then addressed the crowds and said Russia’s forces remain combat ready Russia will do everything it can to prevent Global confrontation but at the same time we will not allow anyone to threaten us our strategic forces are always on combat alert bringing our mosow correspondent Iva Bennett for more on this and that’s just a little exert of the speech of course that he gave Ivor I I imagine where without any irony he talked about being threatened despite the fact that he’s the one that invaded a neighbor yeah very much so this uh was an attempt to essentially justify Russia’s current course of aggression and paint Russia as the victim paint Russia as fighting a defensive war and in that um same breath as saying that Russia will do all it can to avoid uh Global confrontation and global war he also said that they will um not let anyone threaten thre us and said that Russia’s forces are always combat ready so very much iron fist in a velvet glove trying to P tray Russia as a peaceful Nation but uh with a very pugnacious undertone this was a paired down ceremony compared to previous years only 61 pieces of military hardware uh compared to 200 normally in Pre Ukraine War uh times only one tank took part the t34 a World War II era War Machine that’s because all the modern machinery of course is being uh used at the front but that didn’t stop the celebrations on Red Square today the parade was full of Pomp and ceremony the Highlight uh of the parade as it were was the Ys uh intercontinental ballistic missile launcher which thundered through the square at the end of the parade uh still with the whole parade seen as really a big kind of show of military might military muscle for the Kremlin ostensibly it is about um commemorating in the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in 1945 but that’s not the only conflict clearly that uh Vladimir Putin wanted Russia and Russians to think about uh he also ensured the the current conflict in Ukraine was at the Forefront of people’s minds uh paying tribute to The Bravery of those taking part units from the so-called special military operation also joined in the parade and the idea of course is to conflate these two Wars the World War II and the current war in Ukraine so people in Russia view them in the same way that Russia is on the defensive and on the right side of History

Russia’s Victory Day parade has been held in Moscow’s Red Square, marking its victory over Nazi Germany – but it felt different this year.

Only one tank was present throughout the entire display – as the country continues to dedicate considerable firepower and resources to its war in Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin used his speech this year to try and warn Russia’s combat forces were “always ready” but admitted the country was going through a “difficult period”.

  1. That’s a t 34 from ww2 and there were loads of tanks and 9000 troops and nuclear missiles why did the Ukrainians have a one hundred thousand man army in the Donbas ?

  2. Only 24 seconds before the propagandist mantra "full-scale invasion" is mouthed.
when did the Ministry of Truth tell Western reporters to ditch "unprovoked" and switch to "full-scale"?

  3. This ignorance can't be genuine? No understanding of history, ceremony or sacrifice. Utter contempt for the designated enemy is rooted in pathological narcissism.

  4. mentira tu comentario .. la confederación rusia esta hasta los cojones que la OTAN se acercara a sus fronteras poniendo misiles por eso no tuvo mas remidió que atacar y invadir

  5. Western media portray such delusional perception about Russia's military capabilities. The Russian army still has thousands of tanks in its inventory which they can parade if they want.
