What are the obstacles to a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas? • FRANCE 24 English

hopes of an imminent ceasefire in Gaza have come and gone Israel says the terms of hamas’s accepted proposal remain far from meeting its demands the first sticking point involves the first phase of the deal the text originally provided for the gradual release of 33 Israeli hostages starting with women children the elderly and most vulnerable over an initial period of 42 days but hamas’s amended version specifies these hostages could be alive or dead the other requirements involve the sufficient entry of humanitarian Aid relief materials and fuel military combat would cease for 10 hours a day and Israel would have to at least partially remove its troops from the strip in the second phase as well as releasing more hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners both sides would agree to restore quote sustainable calm to Gaza this is another sticking point since Israel and Hamas have different views of what that would look like for Hamas it’s the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza something the Israeli government has long been opposed to as it vows to destroy Hamas phase three revolves around the Reconstruction of Gaza and a total end to the blockade despite rejecting hamas’s deal Israel has agreed to send a delegation to Egypt for further talks you

A team of Israeli officials is now in Cairo and it remains to be seen what will become of the latest ceasefire plan brokered by Egypt and Qatar. 1. After Hamas announced yesterday the approval of the ceasefire proposal, voices in opposition to the Netanyahu government have become very loud, and it has been made clear to the Israeli public that the real liar who does not want to return the prisoners is Netanyahu. The end of Rafah is the end of Netanyahu
If you don't show a military difference after 214 days, it won't make any difference anymore.
