A person close to Oaktree says the company "has been very supportive and hasn't made things difficult for Suning but there was always an expectation that there would be a sale of the club."

Another source involved said Oaktree was concerned that allowing Suning to further raise its debt to a third party (Pimco) could reduce the chances of a sale of Inter and diminish any potential revenue it could receive.

The structure of the loan granted by Oaktree to Zhang envisaged a sharing of the profits of a successful sale of Inter.

  1. This sounds like an Oaktree problem. They probably never thought Zhang would find a potential loan to repay theirs. Now instead of this huge windfall, from the sale of the club, they are only going to get interest back. This is bad foresight on Oaktree’s account and it’s a shame that Inter is stuck in the middle of all of this. Our last two league championships have been over shadowed by off the field matters.

  2. They weren’t too concerned about the prospect of no sale while they were going to take the club. Tiny violin time.
