  1. More important than mathematics or history?

I wonder where we would derive the information that forms a pragmatic foundation in which we would consider a viable system to build a functional system of etiquette?

I suppose that's not as important as just simply taking the word upon high's word for it. Who cares about epistemology anyway?

    Silly Romans.

  2. Societal’s standard is boorish behaviour. We have elevated poor manners and a bad attitude as something to strive for and any sign of reserve, sensitivity and respect as a weaknesses. I love it when someone holds the door for another or acknowledges if someone is being passed over at a shop and brings it to the attention the clerk. It brings order and a kind of flow to society, instead of the constant drag against the grain. Life is better when we live in harmony. Too bad we don’t acknowledge it.

  3. Etiquette helps with appropriate social interaction and humans are social animals. And there does seem to be a trend of increasing social conflict.

  4. If you study in a Russian gymnasium, you will be tought all the possible subjects in the world. This doesn't mean you will know them all though. As the aim of such education is to find what a pupil is iterested in. Including etiquette.

  5. Etiquette is mostly snobbery.

Knowing which way to pass the port and what cutlery to use as you discuss how to improve your salary by laying off workers or removing their rights.

It has little to do with manners, decency or propriety.

  6. Is stealing from others and eating babies considered, "Proper Etiquette"? Give it back or go to jail you piece of Illuminati Satanic shit.

  7. Etiquette is just a means for the upper class to distinguish themselves from other classes and help them maintain power.

ETHICS is what students should grapple with (but is that already taught in UK schools? It should be taught in US schools…)

  8. As a teacher for 20 years, I’ve seen a change in etiquette. It’s not just for the ‘posh’ (speaking as a biracial woman brought up in a working class home), it’s just good manners and that’s what’s being lost. 😢
