This Major Change By The King Has Left Windsor Residents Upsets

King Charles has broken a 200-year-old tradition at Windsor Castle, leaving local residents very upset.

Previously residents who live near Windsor Castle were allowed free access to the historic site a tradition which dates back to 1895.

However, as of June 1st, 2024 the residents will be charged for their visit.

The Royal Collection Trust will implement a discounted fee, for residents with a Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Advantage Card.

  1. What a pathetic cop-out excuse they gave. Somebody should point out that they are not just any 'other business', they are Royalty.
I'm beginning to see why Prince Harry doesn't have any values and will deal with anybody, No matter how dodgy, especially if there's more money in it for him, and how he could sell his soul to Netflix.
Thank God William takes after his mother and was mentored so closely by HM QEII.

  2. The local economy gains so much from the money people spend to visit Windsor. I didn't quite understand why a select group of citizens in the area would be allowed free access when everyone else had to pay. Fair's fair.

  3. Everyone wants everything for free, not on! King Charles well done to you, that’s a fair deal, so stop moaning people! Cheers from South Africa where we have to pay for everything! 🇿🇦

  4. You live in London or anywhere else where we have royal residence you don't have free entry, so why should this be any different, you've still got half price

  5. Your “neighbor’s” property is not your property and you have no rights to it. The change does not stop the privilege that has been extended to neighbours just restricts it from being taken advantage of.

  6. Most residents, in any town with historic venues, are the least likely individuals to visit the venues due to proximity and procrastination. The charging of an entrance fee is often used to pay for upkeep, security, repairs, and utilities. To expect the Royal Family to shoulder the entire cost simply because you live in town is ludicrous. Most businesses are making money off the tourists in one form or another. You don't want to welcome the tourists? Move to someplace no one wants to visit. Problem solved.

  7. Wait, you want to be recognized for profiting off of the castle? Don’t think that’s how economics works. Just because it’s “always been” doesn’t mean it will always be.

  8. Considering how long the castle has been there, and how expensive it is in the area, half price is a really good deal. I can’t afford it with the travel, parking and entrance fees. Would they have the nice shops if the castle wasn’t there.

  9. Someone has to pay for the castle's upkeep. If tourists have to dig deep into their pockets to visit Windsor, maybe the locals can have discounted price.

  10. Bad decision Charles, and I normally support you. It's always best to show favour to your neighbours. Where I live, we can apply for advance reduced price tickets at Hyde Park concerts because we have to put up with more mess and noise.

  11. I agree with the King Charles , he and William are busy helping the reslly needy people by building houses etc why shouldnt people that use this for free givr back to monarchy??? This world today is always self serving now and its getting ridiculois

  12. Don’t the Windsor residents already profit from the tourists to their town who shop in their shops, eat in their restaurants & cafés, stay in their hotels and guest houses, pay for parking etc. Windsor Castle operates as a business and no business will stay afloat for long if it offers unlimited freebie access to people already benefiting from the tourists the castle attracts.

King Charles hasn’t made this business decision the Royal Collections Trust have. And they have recognised the terrible hardship of the Windsor residents having to “put up” with profiting from tourists by reducing their entry fee by 50%.

Entry to Windsor Great Park is free but if they want to add to the wear and tear of the castle interior which hordes of tourists creates then they’re going to have to dip into their pockets – but only halfway as far as everyone else.

  13. You're Majesty,

I humbly bring to your attention a concern regarding the horses under your care. It has come to my notice that some horses have been biting people, and I am deeply worried about the safety and well-being of both the horses and the individuals involved.

I kindly implore you to consider taking measures to address this issue, as I fear that someone may be seriously hurt if no action is taken. I understand the importance of the royal stables and the cultural significance of the horses, but the safety of all individuals involved must be the top priority.

  14. The local residents are getting a great deal back from 'welcoming all those tourists'. I'm sure the complaints will die down once everyone gets used to it.
