you’ve probably seen this on your Tik Tok or Instagram this is the famous Mount Fuji lawon the social media money shot from millions of visitors who come here but it’s not going to be around for long residents here in Fuji kawaguchiko are fed up with tourists Behaving Badly all to get the perfect shot of the convenience store with the snowcapped volcano as a desperate measure the local authorities are building a barrier to block The View I think it’s a bit sad some locals are also not convinced that this is the solution I hope we want have to deal with more traffic and the trash problems but I am worried about tourists stepping out onto the street to take pictures when the black screen goes up for the first time ever Japan has had more than 3 million visitors two months in a row thanks to a week Y and the lifting of post-pandemic restrictions but it’s a tough balance to strike for a country with a struggling economy boosting businesses while protecting residents in popular locations from over tourism

Ever since Covid lockdowns, it seems that people have forgotten how to behave especially when they are tourist in another country.
People are looking for a solution but there isn't one. Overtourism is a problem but the tourism industry brings in big money, which is important. Some areas in the world could literally not survive without it. Countries have to decide what course they want to take, but you cant have your cake and eat it. Japan can't run million dollar ads painting themselves as a friendly and welcoming nation, inviting tourists one moment then ban them from tourist spots, board up iconic views and shop owners ban them from half the stores in the country. Make a choice japan.

Too many Chinese
There's some streets in one city, I think its Kyoto, where geisha and geisha-in-training shop and travel on foot, these streets are restricted from tourists going in.
There is a huge difference between a tourist visiting a place to stay at a hotel or resort or hotspring, spending money and interacting with locals, to a visitor who gawks and takes photos without interacting with locals. I think you know the difference, its not the money.
I wouldn’t want an ugly convenience store in my photo of mt fuji. Why is this popular???

It’s a small blocking billboard type thing so that tourists will go further up the road or down but won’t stay in the area. If the locals don’t want you around then you aren’t welcome and there’s likely just cause for it.

You get bad tourists everywhere and i dont really know how to stop it. I live by the seaside in the UK and in the summer months we get people on their holidays flocking to my town in their droves but they leave so much rubbish behind, on the beach, in the town.. it's disgusting and although tourism helps boost the economy, its not nice for locals. I just wish people could be more considerate really. If i go out with my family and i cant find a bin for my rubbish, i take it home with me. I guess im just the minority🤷♀️
