well the UK is not alone in dealing with this Scandal thousands of people were affected in the US Portugal Iran and Iraq in France around 4,000 people many of them hemophiliacs were infected with HIV through blood transfusions the health minister at the time was convicted in 1999 in Canada around 2,000 people were infected with HIV and more than 30,000 contracted hepatitis A major inquiry concluded in 1997 and in 2001 the Canadian Red Cross was found guilty of negligence for failing to screen blood donors effectively in Japan around 1,800 hemophiliacs contracted HIV three former drug company Executives were jailed after admitting selling blood products tainted with HIV

  1. Here in the US, I've noticed that blood donation seems to have transferred from the Red Cross to corporations that operate donation sites in buses. People donate but the bus corp. sells that blood. I think that maybe business is at the root of this scandal.

  2. This happened in Ireland, nobody was held responsible, our health minister at the time, dragged the dying victims through the courts. He never was held accountable for his inhuman treatment of these people. The Irish blood transfusion service was aware that the blood was contaminated.
