Russian territory with us supplied weapons responding to a question from Voice of America about the current American policy that restricts the usage of this weapons the house Speaker said that the US should allow Ukraine to prosecute the war in the way they see fit Mike Johnson said Ukraine needs to be able to fight back he thinks us trying to micromanage the efforts in Ukraine is not a good policy for them the statement comes as in recent weeks Ukraine has intensified its appeal to the Biden Administration to lift the ban according to a member of the Ukrainian Parliament Russia is taking advantage of the restrictions put by America on how Ukraine should use the weapons provided by them she says since they do not have the clearance to use Mar’s rocket launchers on the Russian territory Moscow flaunts its weapons along the border and use them to destroy the kar region although us officials have repeatedly said that they do not support or encourage kev’s striking with American weapons from Berlin Mr Aris thank you so much for joining us good to see you again since the start of this war the West especially the United States has been very clear that the arms they provide are to defend Ukraine and not attack school do you think it’s time West changes that stance I’m being they’re being pushed towards it because of the situation on the battlefield I mean for most of this war the last two years it’s been fought you know in Ukrainian territory far away from the Russian border uh you know along the Nea River in the middle of the country Kon um what’s happened now is that because of the lack of amunition because of the lack of air defense that Russia’s concentrated its attack on har and ke is only 30 40 K kilometers from the Russian border it’s Ukraine’s second biggest city it’s extremely important uh and it’s managed to hold out despite really heavy attacks on it throughout the war but the the focus is on there now and the problem is what Russia’s done is it’s bringing up it its troops and its rocket launchers and attacking the city from inside its own territory and Ukraine can’t do anything about it uh if if there’s fighting in the field like in in in the middle of the country then you know you’ve got a regular battle but the because Russia’s taking advantage of this ban of use of Western weapons that the ukrainians can’t hit the supply lines they can’t hit the troops that are masked they can’t hit the rocket launchers I mean on the belgrad’s highway which is runs down the Border you know you’ve got G missile launchers parked there lobbying bombs into Ukraine into hke and they can’t fight back and so I think given that the war’s going so badly for Ukraine that the American side is getting a bit desperate you know they they’re thinking about we have to lift this band so at least it’ll be a fair fight where both sides could shoot it each other but they remain very concerned about possibility of provoking Russia because an attack with a NATO weapon on Russian Sovereign territory could be taken by the Kremlin as an attack on NATO attack by NATO Mr Aris I want to connect Us’s domestic policy with how that could have an implication on the foreign policy we all know that Us’s presidential elections are slated for November this year now the statements that we are seeing by Mike Johnson he’s a close Ally of Donald Trump there’s a big possibility that Donald Trump might come back to Power this November I want to ask you how do you see and if it all you see Us’s foreign policy changing towards the war in Ukraine in case Donald Trump comes back to the White House well you’re right these two things are intimately linked I mean the problems that Ukraine has had in getting support from from the states is is all a function of the domestic policies and we should also bear in mind that that um that Johnson and also blinkin who commented on this who’s the the foreign uh Minister neither of them are qualified to talk about military strategy um and within the White House there seems to be a split because Jake Sullivan the National Security advisor you know the one who can talk about military strategy has come out adamantly as has the Pentagon to say look we don’t want the these attacks in Russia because of the dangers of escalation but then you’ve got these domestic players particularly Johnson and Mike
