[Music] [Music] welcome to PPR Global the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine is concentrated on strategic axes the Russian army is operating on two main fronts particularly in the KV region in the Northeast and the donet region in the East Ukraine’s armed forces are steadfastly resisting Russian pressure on these two main fronts however Ukraine’s military strategy has shifted its offensive course predominantly to the South particularly to the strategically important Crimean Peninsula the latest attack on the peninsula took place the other day explosions were heard in many regions especially in the Crimean city of sopel Russian telegram channels and local news sources reported that sopel air defense systems were activated during the night and missiles were defending against air strikes the explosions were heard from sople to cities such as saki gisa Yalta and aloua the sounds of explosions counted by the locals followed by Sirens reveal the extent of the tension in the region following the explosions and Sirens local health workers were called to emergency Duty in aloua a large number of ambulances were observed moving toward seid Veria region according to initial lines the Ukrainian military launched an atacam attack on the S400 triumf air defense system located near the village of mosp in donet oblast video footage of the attack published and analyzed by more sense to buy old American weapons even if they are past their expiration date the latest Russian technology is far inferior to the American Technology of the 1980s after 1991 Russian decision makers became paranoid that they could be the next victims of NATO air power Russia’s limited Financial Resources in the 1990s were therefore allocated to the development of systems designed to defend against Western Airborne threats in the postc Cold War era a significant part of Russian Force planning has focused on countering the western long-range attack threats now seen yet Russia appears incapable of dealing with them effectively the most expensive weapon Russia has produced is nothing like the system the US developed in the 80s the aam’s attack on the Russian air defense system was the fifth attack on Russia’s pleaded air defenses in the last 4 weeks Ukraine initially focused its attention on the S400 and s300 systems in Crimea they have now shifted their focus to the southeast Ukraine is apparently clearing the decks for the arrival of f-16s they are shaping the battlefield to prevent their precious Jets from being spotted and neutralized by Russian air defense systems in addition to targeting air defense systems Ukraine successfully neutralized five Su 25 fighter jets in may this is indeed a strange phenomenon this month we have seen a significant increase in the interception of su 25 fighter jets whereas regular Su 30s were not targeted so often to uncover the reasons behind this trend we need to dig deeper if anyone knows how to shoot down fighter jets using both old air defense systems and brand new ones it is the Ukrainian air defense teams while the S400 and other Russian air defense systems are vulnerable to Ukrainian tactics and weapons they still pose a threat to fighter jets Ukraine’s F-16 flight path will remain restricted and risky as Pilots contend with multiple layers of Russian air defense systems between the three of them they are prioritizing the elimination of long range Russian systems aiming to neutralize as many as possible Ukraine’s Readiness to host f-16s underscores the urgency of neutralizing Russia’s long range air defense systems the Ukrainian Armed Forces have not lost any of the Patriot batteries since they were procured in April last year but one of the launchers may have gone missing Germany is sending another Patriot firing unit while Italy is sending one of its long range samp T air defense systems both air defense units are scheduled to arrive in Ukraine along with the f-16s the stage is set to host the f-16s it would be ideal for Europe to add more air defense systems to Ukraine but Germany’s effort to cover Ukraine’s Skies has St called there was no movement and no European country with Patriot air defense systems except Germany was willing to send them to Ukraine the remaining countries seem caught in an endless cycle of negotiations they are reluctant to give up their air defense systems for fear that it would weaken their own defenses Poland Romania Spain and Greece are unlikely to give up their units without acquiring new ones especially given the lack of available units worldwide Israel has some units scheduled for retirement but is unlikely to part with them Switzerland is scheduled to receive new Patriot units but is unlikely to provide any assistance given its neutral stance in the conflict so we find ourselves back in frame one not an ideal situation but not so devastating that we should throw in the towel Ukraine will have seven Patriot and Sam PT long-range air defense systems since Ukraine is unlikely to receive the next unit for a very long time the best course of action would be to replenish Ukraine’s stockpile of air defense missiles thank
