NATO Lacks Air Defences to Defend Europe’s Eastern Flank Against Russia | Vantage with Palki Sharma

e [Music] [Music] Europe is worried about its security the Skies over Eastern Europe are exposed they have virtually no air defense and this is a security assessment by NATO here’s what their latest report says its focus is on NATO’s capabilities to protect its eastern flank now these are countries in Central and Eastern Europe that is NATO’s Eastern flank the report says NATO has less than 5% of the capability that it needs less than 5% what are we talking about here what kind of capability defense systems Rockets troops whatever Europe needs to protect itself from an air strike they don’t have it the region is woefully under equipped in fact let me quote from what a NATO Diplomat said air defense is one of the biggest holes we have we cannot deny it since the war in Ukraine broke out NATO has not been able to do very much about it it hasn’t been able to boost Security in Eastern Europe just one American Patriot system has been deployed and this is in southern Poland it protects an airport it’s an important hub for the West this airport in southern Poland is used to send Western military aid to Ukraine and the block is also under pressure from Kiev from Ukrainian president volodimir zalinski he’s been asking for more air defense systems ja has already used more than 9,000 guided aial WBS against Ukraine and we need the ability to shoot down their combat aircraft so that they do not approach our positions and borders it is possible it is just as possible as giving protection to the cities of Ukraine from Russian Rockets we urgently need Patriot systems and missiles for them this is what can and should save lives right now clearly Europe needs more air defense systems so what are they doing about it talking for now hectic deliberations are on plans are being discussed this week NATO leaders are meeting in Prague later in July there are plans for a summit in Washington DC both discussions will center around Europe’s air defenses and how to improve them NATO and Europe need to step up because the Russian president is pressing on their vulnerability the representatives of countries that are NATO members particularly in Europe particularly in small countries should be aware of what they are playing with they should remember that these are primarily countries with small territory and dense population Putin said that two days ago he was referring to the statements from macron and scholes the leaders of France and Germany they said Ukraine should strike deep inside Russia France and Germany in response Putin highlighted Europe’s greatest weakness right now the Eastern flank of NATO and he was referring to the same region that we just spoke about apparently some of his advisers want him to go a step further they want the Russian military to quote unquote demonstrate its nuclear power in Ukraine does that mean a nuclear attack well Putin’s advisers did not spell it out but they did they do want want him to consider and I’m quoting again a demonstrative strike something that can send a message to the West so Brussels has been cautioned Europe is in Russia’s sides if Moscow decides to strike how will Europe protect itself this is where Europe’s internal Rifts begin to surface the block cannot agree on a single strategy so far their approach has been fragmented Germany is pushing for the sky Shield initiative it was launched last year the plan is to develop a shared air defense system using American and Israeli technology more than a dozen countries IES have signed up for the sky Shield but France has taken a different path they along with Italy have developed a system called Mamba then we have urula vandan who is going in a third Direction She’s the European commission’s president she wants an EU funed air defense shield and Poland and Greece support her so there are three different plans three different approaches being proposed to achieve the same goal securing Europe’s but none will deliver unless Europe can Tide over its divisions and it’s not like they’ve not tried but the outcome has not been favorable the longer they remain at odds the more they strengthen Putin’s hand and expose themselves to potential threats South Africa’s May 29th elections there was a start of change in the country we are on the bench of History I am standing here at the Forefront of change where voices Echo the call for Action the nation grapples with an unemployment crisis as South Africans prepare to cost their votes the question looms will The Winds of Change usher in a new era or will the legacy of the past maintain its grip on the future [Music]

NATO Lacks Air Defences to Defend Europe’s Eastern Flank Against Russia | Vantage with Palki Sharma

Europe is facing a stark reality: its air defences are woefully inadequate. A recent NATO report revealed the alliance has less than 5% of the capability it needs to protect its eastern flank, particularly countries in Central and Eastern Europe bordering Russia. This vulnerability has become a focal point as the war in Ukraine rages on. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been asking for more air defence systems to counter relentless Russian airstrikes. While acknowledging the urgency, NATO has yet to take significant steps to bolster air defences in Eastern Europe. Moreover, Europe’s efforts to boost their air defence systems are hampered by internal disagreements. Kremlin advisors are suggesting a “demonstrative” nuclear strike in Ukraine. 1. Ooooo NATO sucks there not trained in mondern warfare not at all war has changed not the same as what NATO trained for like Mike Tyson fighting untrained street fighter NATO get there ass kicked bigtime

  2. Zelensky……do you hear what are you saying.. listen … listen good, because it sounds insane…Do you remember the words of BIDEN? Fighting till the last Ukrainian…?that Zelensky, Biden say that before the fighting began…2022….

  3. Pls Ukraine president fo 4 peace n save d live of ur people, US is only using u to sell their weapons n ur people r dying in d hands of powerful RUSSIAN

  4. Putin is old and facing the end of his life. He will use nuclear weapons on the West, not just Ukraine. In 1962 the US had Kennedy to defuse the Cuban crisis. He made a strategic deal with Khrushchev. Today we are lead by neocon fools.

  5. What you fail to point out is that Russia has concern with Nato forces along the Ukraine Russia border and they could place nuclear weapons there. This how it all started, would the US allow let's say China to place nukes along the Rio grand with the blessing from Mexico, of course not.

  6. NATO payed Zelensky to allow them to use his country for proxy war, and he’s doing exactly that. A wicked dictator who doesn’t care about his people

  7. Provoking Russia to move into Eastern Europe is not a wise policy by the Europeans. They have used Ukraine to awaken the Russian Bear and there is no turning back. Russia is years ahead of Europe in arming itself, maybe 20 years starting in 2002, soon after President Putin came to power.

  8. Watch how the convicted Felon & next President of the U.S.A works with Putin to find a solution that ends the conflict. Poor Ukrainians. They should have never entertained the thougjt of joining N.A.T
    O.

  9. As AJP Taylor wrote "The present enables us to understand the past, not the other way round" ("The Troblemakers, p. 24). If you wish to understand the war crimes of NATO over recent decades (the former Yugoslavia, Libia, Iraq, Afghanistan) just look to NATO in Ukraine today, and since they engineered the overthrow of the elected pro-Russian president in 2014.
