this is or was the communications Ministry in Haiti for months now it’s served as a huge squat for more than 1600 Haitians forced to flee their homes today they’ve had a delivery of hot meals from a humanitarian organization they’ve got a thousand meals to go around not enough for one per person but that’s better than in recent months they want to take two or three meals because they’re starving around 160,000 people have fled their homes in the PTO Prince region here they’ve set up a committee in The Minister’s office we had no problems getting in the doors were wide open the space was free entire families are packed into the already pillaged compound look where I am today I have a baby here in the street only these people helped me after I gave birth I’m hungry and I sleep on the ground this is misery relle now lives in this corner of the ministry with six children she shows us medical papers documenting a gang rape Bandits attacked her last year she tells us while she was pregnant and sleeping in the streets of central Porto Prince and the front line of the war with the gangs is less than a kilometer away this is what was once the heart of the Haitian Capital what remains of its presidential Palace and over there the highest court in the land right now it’s at the front lines of an ongoing war between the security forces and the gangs which control the majority of the capital city up in the Heights overlooking the ravage City Center Haiti’s newly appointed transition council is based in a luxurious Villa the council’s president is a former speaker of Haiti’s Senate giving his first International interview he’s Frank about the corruption that’s rotted the core of the state we have to recognize that the institutions have collapsed that’s been going on for a long time but there has been a certain complicity between State authorities and criminals to win elections gain power but it’s also due to a certain complicity by the economic Elites who use the bandits and allow them to make money equip themselves and even confront our established forces hai’s transition Council was SW born in more than a month ago but so far has been hampered by infighting and jockeying for position and has yet to name an interim government back at the communications Ministry at nighttime conditions are at their worst there are so many people so some of us have to sleep in the corridors they sleep everywhere on the roof on the ground in the courtyard too they don’t have beds or blankets they can get ill like this trapped on the edge of a war zone Despair and fury is [Music] rif a desperate plea for help help from someone anyone in charge

Haiti has been crumbling under the relentless assault of violent gangs that control 80% of Port-au-Prince. Fleeing the violence, more 160,000 Haitians have been internally displaced in the Port-au-Prince region alone, and they are struggling to get by in a country where many government institutions have all but collapsed.   1. Look how quick they were to point the camera at the baby playing on the ground. They are searching desperately to show the world a bad side. It's against being Haitian to ask for international help. We do not want you. GO AWAY.

  2. They don't wanto take 2-3 meals because they're starving they want to take them because they're not thinking on anybody else! and that's the main issue in Hait. That gentlemen didn't think on the kids around him when he grabbed the food.

  3. Im extremely concerned about the women in Haiti and very frustrated that their condition is being shadowed by the political drama. They are being exploited and abused, and no one seems to care.
