Nigel Farage announces he will stand for Reform UK in general election

I took a day off yesterday had a normal day walked the dogs did a bit of fishing popped into the pub you know a normal sort of day which gave me time to think and reflect and I began to feel a terrible sense of guilt I can’t let down those millions of people I simply can’t do it it’ll be wrong I have decided I’ve changed my mind so I am going to stand in this election I’ll be launching my candidacy at midday tomorrow in the Essex Seaside town of Clapton so midday tomorrow clacton at the end of the paer [Applause] um but perhaps perhaps more important than that I’ve made I’ve made a far bigger decision than that I’m coming back as leader of Reform UK but not just for this election campaign I’m coming back for the next five years when people start to realize in the red wo with reform second to labor when they start to realize that actually in those seats it’s a conservative vote that’s a vote for labor it’s a conservative vote that is a wasted vote then I think we might just surprise everybody

Nigel Farage has announced that he will stand in Clacton for the Reform UK party in the general election, his eighth attempt to become an MP after seven previous failures while running for Ukip.

Farage, who recently said he would not stand for election, told a press conference that he had a ‘terrible sense of guilt’ for not putting himself forward after speaking to people during the campaign, saying he felt he was ‘letting them down’.

  1. I find it funny how the same people who constantly whine about how "unfair" FPTP is are also the same people mocking UKIP/Reform when they lose seats they would win through PR.

  2. One of two things can explain all the Reform support on this comment feed, either a) Fartage has brought with him a Reform bot farm, or, b) Reform supporters have started to read the Guardian!? One of these really terrifies me!?!

  3. I firmly believe that the pivotal factor in the upcoming election will be which leader demonstrates exceptional creativity in paying off our national debt within the next decade or less and rebuilding our economy to benefit everyone everywhere, including all our institutions. I am confident in my decision to support the Labour Party to transform lives and businesses 💡

  4. how did the Brexit father who abandoned his son have the courage to paint the image of a “worthy father” to take charge of the family called Uk 🇬🇧 …will he still make people from clacton believing that in politics 1+1=5 without demonstrating it ?

  5. Most on bennefits and over 22 million foreigners in the UK can't stand Farage and I'd say the majority of British wouldn't vote for him ether so he is wasting his time🤣
