King Charles and Queen Camilla invited four World War II heroes to Buckingham Palace to hear their touching stories.

The King shared entries from the diary of his grandfather King George VII ahead of the two-days of national commemorations.

The full conversation will be broadcast as part of BBC One’s ‘D-Day 80: Tribute to The Fallen’.

  21. I served in the Grenadier Guards, as a boy soldier, joining at the age of 16 until leaving and joining the Police. I wore a uniform and served our Queen in some form for 44 years retiring at the age of 59 .
    I was DEVASTATED when we lost her!!! I was sceptical about Charles having met him a few times, BUT, having seen him here and on other channels I am coming around! Well done Sir!!

  33. It's so important to always point out that German or Italian soldiers were also as brave, important and also terrifyied as the Allies' soldiers. The fact that they were led by crazy evil leaders doesn't mean they weren't victims of the war too
