U.S. and Ukraine to sign a major security agreement at G7 summit

so President Biden is ramping up his administration’s effort to stop Russia’s war in Ukraine unveiling more than 300 new sanctions for companies and people aiding Russia’s war effort as he attends the G7 Summit in Italy the meeting of world leaders comes at a pivotal political moment with recent elections in Europe and upcoming elections in both Great Britain and the US plus there’s a major news announcement that was just made Biden and Ukrainian president zalinski have decided to sign a bilateral security agreement at the G7 tomorrow that will pledge a long-term defense and Security deal between the two countries our correspondent Patrick Revel joins us now from Italy so why don’t we start Patrick with this announcement this security agreement what does it mean how will it work hi Kira yeah I mean we’re waiting for President Biden to arrive here in southern Italy he’s expected to land the airport behind me in the next few hours and as you say we just learned from a Us official that tomorrow when President Biden meets with President zelinski here at the G7 Summit they will sign a bilateral security agreement between the US and Ukraine what we’ve heard about this agreement is it’s similar to other security agreements that Ukraine has with other Western countries it doesn’t mean that the US will commit to sending troops to Ukraine what it means more is that it will commit to helping develop Ukraine’s military capacities it will help develop its military production um and it will try and work with Congress in a way to try and um make it more sustainable uh resourcing Ukraine over the long term what we’ve heard from a Ukrainian official is that they consider this to be much more substantial than many of the agreements with other Western countries in particular that it’s about this long-term development of Ukraine’s industrial military um based and its ability to produce its own weapons I mean that’s obviously just one part of this big push now by the Biden Administration to signal that it’s going to back Ukraine in the long term in addition we had today these new sanctions announced um they increase greatly the risk of foreign companies doing business with sanctioned Russian entities in an effort to try and strengthen the sanctions regime against Russia and as well here we expect that President Biden um will be and us his his delegation will be negotiating with G7 Partners trying to reach an agreement on a $50 billion loan to go to Ukraine that would be um funded using uh using Frozen Russian assets um that are frozen in the US and in Europe so this is a big push all designed um by G7 countries to try and signal firm standing behind Ukraine and that Vladimir Putin can out cannot outweight um the West support Kira all right Patrick reel appreciate it

The agreement will help Ukraine develop military capacity and production, sources said.

  14. I’m American and I’m extremely disappointed by the continuous antagonizing of Russia. Why is the Biden administration doing this? Do they want WWIII? It really seems like they’re intentionally trying to destroy our country and our people. Conspiracy theories abound as to why our country seems hellbent on self-destruction. Regardless, what we are doing is wrong. We need to stop interfering in the domestic affairs of sovereign states. No one believes the lies anymore that it’s done for freedom. We all now know it’s done for billionaires to pillage and plunder those countries from the inside out.

    The Kyiv regimes imposed their power on the people's state of Ukraine, criminally violating the constitution and laws of the state of Ukraine.

    The presidential elections in 2014 and 2019 are unconstitutional, which means illegal, undemocratic, illegitimate, and such as to mislead the world community by imposing an illusion on the states of the world about the democratic nature of political processes in Ukraine after 2014.

    In 2014 and 2019, the "Law on the Election of the President of Ukraine" and Articles 69, 71, 92.20 of the Constitution of Ukraine were criminally violated by not granting the right to vote to the residents of the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions.

    In 2019, Zelensky came to power illegally – by deception, in an unconstitutional way. Zelensky is the guarantor of the dictatorship and the criminal regime. Martial law after the coup on February 22, 2014, which was imposed by the leaders of the Kyiv regime, is hypocrisy and deception of the population of the former state of Ukraine (1991-2014), in order to strengthen the dictatorship of the Kyiv regime.

    And this is what Western countries call democracy and the rule of law. Maybe because they are not told the details of this right and the violation of this right. And they tell superficial things that veil the truth.
