Secretary Austin: Putin is not in a position to make demands on Ukraine

Putin has occupied illegally occupied uh Sovereign Ukrainian territory uh he is not in any position to dictate to Ukraine um what they must do to to bring about a peace I think um you know it that’s exactly the kind of behavior that we don’t want to see we don’t want to see um a a leader of one country wake up one day and decide that he wants to to erase uh borders and Annex uh the territory of his neighbor that’s not the world that any of us want to live in and so I think I think um you know he is not in the in my view not in a position to dictate to Ukraine what it must do to pursue peace Putin can end this war today you know he started this War uh with no provocation he’s lost he’s had some you know hundreds of thousands of of troops uh wounded and killed uh in this unjust and unprovoked Invasion he could end this today if he if he chose to do that and and we call upon him to to do that and and to leave uh Ukrainian Sovereign territory

Russian President Vladimir Putin is in no position to make demands on Ukraine to end the war, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said on Friday (June 14), as he touted Kyiv’s military successes confronting Moscow’s full-scale invasion.

Putin said earlier on Friday that Russia would end the war in Ukraine only if Kyiv agreed to drop its ambitions for NATO membership, hand over the entirety of four provinces claimed by Moscow, and carry out a demilitarisation.

Russia controls nearly a fifth of Ukrainian territory in the third year of the war.

Ukraine says peace can only be based on the full withdrawal of Russian forces and the restoration of its territorial integrity.

Austin added that Putin himself could end the conflict by removing troops from “Ukrainian sovereign territory”.

  1. If anyone is not in the position of making demands right now it’s the US. Try sending undiplomatic Kermit Blinken over to China again to bark orders to stop helping Russia

  2. austin, biden, the whole administration and the following dont care and have never cared about the so called sovereignty of Ukraine or its people becasue they are they initiators of the coup in 2014 who tried to overthrow and freely elected president in Ukraine, to be honest it doesnt matter because the whole Ukraine ordeal is a huge investment opportunity for black rock and their vassals which is the administration follow their orders. they literally have no idea whats going on in ukraine

  3. My dear friend, Austin Powell, this is 2024. Please watch what Joe Biden did in Europe. Walking other way round, till Italian Prime Minister Melonie , takes the immediate decision on the spot. Dear Friend Austin, this is your boss, better take some insurance, before blindly following some Joe.

  4. Whatever, Putin never would have even attacked Ukraine if Trump was U.S. President. It is the right, and rare time for enemies of the U.S. to attack other countries. They know the U.S. is at it's weakest point….right now.

  5. How can you call it “unprovoked” when he addressed the UN in 2014 stating positioning NATO troops, NATO weapons (and now we know hazardous bio labs) at their border threatens the national security of Russia and was a redline that must not be crossed.” He said he felt like he had begged, pleaded and spoken on it many times and it’s fallen on deaf ears. He didn’t know what else he could do. Russia has been invaded three times through the Ukrainian border.

I’m an American and I don’t support the push to add Ukraine to NATO. We would not like Russia or China to put up a military base along our border. This is not our war. Ukraine should take the peace deal.
