hopes of a breakthrough deal were thrown into disarray on Tuesday as Hamas returned yet another iteration of the latest truce agreement put forward by the US and Israel but Israel say Hamas have changed the proposal’s main parameters as reports suggests the group made amendments including a new timeline for a permanent ceasefire and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza in a statement Egyptian and Qatari mediators said they received a response from the pales inian Islamic resistance movement Hamas and the Palestinian factions regarding the most recent proposal for a ceasefire deal and the exchange of prisoners and detainees us officials say they are reviewing the latest plans as the death toll climbs to over 37,000 in Gaza according to the health Ministry a rest bite for many cannot come soon enough but this is absolutely clear what we all need for the people of Kaza is a seats fire we’ve been saying that for months this is simply one more nail in the coffin referring to the Israeli forces operation to retrieve four hostages that left more than 270 people dead and 700 injured for thousands the path for a peaceful solution is more urgent than ever

Hamas gave its official response to the latest truce proposal for Gaza on Tuesday, calling for a “complete halt” to Israeli “aggression” as fighting raged in the Palestinian territory. The response came after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, on his eighth Middle East tour since the October 7 Hamas attack that sparked the war, pushed the group to accept the deal.

  2. This is classic Arabic negotiation tactics: Agree agree agree….. and then at the last
    minute change the agreement and blame the other party.

  3. There never was a modern nation state of Israel before 1948. Before that, the area was called Palestine, so in modern times the name Palestine on maps precedes "Israel"; History didnt begin in 1948.

    There are old maps, pre-1948, that call the land Palestine.

    There weren't modern nation states until well after the 15th century AD. It was called Israel bh some in BC times, but it was previously called Canaan per Egyptian stelae of the 15th century BC, and in 500 BC Herodotus called the land Palestine.

    In the end, everyone can call the land any of the three.

    I am pushing back on the false belief Israel as a nation was reborn in 1948/20th century.

    There were no "nations" (a term as used in the twentieth century) until at least five hundred years ago.

    Israel was independent for a while until sixty three BC and was under foreign control before that for hundreds of years.
