Ku Klux Klan – A story of racism, violence and hatred | DW Documentary

Three letters that are synonymous with racism, violence and hatred: KKK. This is the abbreviation for the Ku Klux Klan. The terrorist organization has been active in the USA for over 150 years, especially in the rural areas of the South.

Once founded as a racist secret society to oppress the black population of the USA, the movement has split into many splinter groups over the course of its history. At times, these were almost inactive. But since 2016, when President Donald Trump was elected, the Ku Klux Klan has seen a resurgence.

The film reconstructs the history of the movement and talks to former judges and FBI agents who tried to fight the organization. A KKK dropout also weighs in. This film charts the development of the most notorious racist criminal organization in the United States.

  1. This would’ve been deemed a suppression of freedom of speech and belief system by the western media and politicians if it had happened in a non western country.

  2. Nothing is funnier then the war to keep racist monuments

Lee fought to preserve the institution of slavery, but one letter written after the Civil War in 1866, addressed to Gen. Thomas L. Rosser shows Lee opposed the erection of Confederate monuments, symbols he said would keep division alive

  3. This was a byproduct of the Northern elite and colonization. There's a book Ebony and Ivy that breaks it down really well. There's a reason the majority of the Black Lives Matter events happened north of the Mason-Dixon Line, a lot of people in the South actually grew beyond the racism. The new resurgence is mostly new and the natural result of modern society pushing everything into identity politics. There's not enough messages of unity among humans, each group is pushed into some kind of prison gang that doesn't actually look out for each other.

  4. See… I just don't like the hyprocricy of people.
Let's see how many American knows the definition of racism since it looks like they only see racism is for one particular race.

  5. Another tragic story of social evolution. Ego (+guns) , money (+ guns) , delusion (+ guns) , power (+ guns) , greed (+guns) = today + guns. How many stupid movies have we sat through lately where two skin colours some how end up having to help each other and become ‘timid but grateful friends’ 😂. With all the dramatic music !! and guns of course.
