understand that Israeli troops were returning after Fierce fighting there was a convoy of armored vehicles and one of them there was a a blast a huge blast actually uh and one of the vehicles um either went well it began burning it burned for two hours so it really was a massive blast and I’ve heard uh two explanations nothing confirmed yet either it was an anti-tank missile or it actually went over an um a bomb beneath the road an IED so the exact details not known but eight soldiers in one vehicle uh only the name The Only Name released so far is actually of the commander of the unit a Drew that’s a particular kind of a Arab Israeli from the north of the country so uh it is a difficult incident because it’s the deadliest loss of Israeli soldiers in six months since January uh and it does start to throw up questions about Israel’s tactics and more important its strategy uh when fighting in Gaza
An explosion in southern Gaza killed eight Israeli soldiers, the military said Saturday, making it the deadliest attack on Israeli forces in months. “The Israeli troops were returning after fierce fighting”, said FRANCE 24’s correspondent in Israel Irris Makler. “There was a convoy of armoured vehicules, and there was a huge blast [. . .] I’ve heard two explanations, nothing confirmed yet: either it was an anti-tank missile or it actually went over a bomb beneath the road.”
