Rishi Sunak says he went without ‘lots of things’ including Sky TV as a child

have you ever gone without something yeah I mean I I my family immigrated here with very little and that’s how I was raised I was raised with the values of hard work what did you go without as a child oh we went out with lots of things right because my parents wanted to put everything into our education and that was a priority so what sort of things had to be sacrificed lots of things right give an example all sorts of things like like lots of people there’ll be all sorts of things that I would have wanted as a kid that I couldn’t have right famously sky TV so that was something that we never had growing up actually and but it was lots of things but again that’s that’s my experience is obviously going to be what my experience was what was more important in my values and how I was raised and I was raised in a household where hard work was really important you had to work very hard and family was important service to your community was important and my parents worked very hard for what they had and they wanted their kids to have a better life and I think that’s a good thing and I think actually if people do work hard they should get to enjoy the benefits of that it’s one of the reasons I Believe In cutting people’s taxes

Sunak was pressed in the interview by the ITV journalist Paul Brand to give examples of things he didn’t have a child to which he replied: ‘There’ll be all sorts of things that I would’ve wanted as a kid that I couldn’t have. Famously, Sky TV, so that was something that we never had growing up actually.’

Sunak defended his upbringing, however, arguing that he was raised to appreciate hard work: ‘My parents worked very hard for what they had and they wanted their kids to have a better life’

  1. He went without sky TV to pay for education?

Translation: UK has free education. He went without sky TV to pay for a private school. Incredible.

  2. Media once again he pressured into an answer has to try and think of something. Most people didn't have sky. He's gonna have plenty of time to watch sky soon.

  3. You could tell this guy was fumbling in his tiny brain the minute he was asked this question.. then came out with this.

    This is our leader people.
