Rishi Sunak suggests young people might face sanctions for refusing national service

the military option is optional right no one’s going to be forced to do it it’s actually going to be very selective going to be optional isn’t it national service will be compulsory the military option will be something that people choose to do see so how will you make people do it sorry if national service is going to be compulsory how will you make people do it well you’ll have a set of sanctions and incentives and we will look at the models that are existing around Europe to get the appropriate mix of those there’s a range of different options that exist for example there’s all sorts of things that people do across Europe whether that’s looking at driving licenses other access to finance all sorts of other things the right thing to do is ACC to finance so if people don’t want to do national service what you’re going to take their bank cards away what you no no there’s there’s access there there’s lots of different models around Europe there’s are lots of different models around Europe This is being done in multiple countries in Europe I don’t doubt it I’m just asking you what you think so there’s a range of things and we will have a royal commission look at all of those come back to the government and recommend what the appropriate mix of incentives and sanctions is man here in the blue sh

  1. He blurted national service out of panic. You can tell because he hasn’t even thought of a full plan for it yet. So much for a party mocking Labour for having “no plan”.

  2. Why not introduce National Health Service instead? Getting young people to work for the NHS would surely contribute to solving an actual nationwide crisis

  3. He’s just pushing this to try and get the oldies to vote for him as they seem to all view the younger generations as being lazy despite the world being a much more regulated and locked down place compared to back when there dads could support a family of 4+ on a single wage

  4. Not gonna happen National service is a waste of time young people performing forced labour into industries these weasel’s have neglected, no one will do it 18 year olds will tell you where to go Sunaks days in power are numbered.

  5. Completely agree: this Conservative party have defied their electorate. But Labour will be worse. Fact. Reform UK 🇬🇧 is the only option now.
