Rwanda’s Kagame reacts to recent comments by exiled opponent Rusesabagina • FRANCE 24 English

Paul rusesabagina he was the manager of I understood it yeah it’s just for a viewers uh he was uh brought back to Rwanda we don’t have time to go into all the details he was convicted of terrorism on terrorism charges sentenced to 25 years in jail uh his sentence was commuted uh last year there was a lot of pressure especially from the United States uh government at the time uh he had signed a letter uh at the time when he said he would remain silent uh he did so for several months but he’s recently come out saying I’m not going to remain silent uh the country needs to me to speak out he denounced uh you as a dictator and so on uh first of all what is your reaction to him uh coming out and publicly accusing you after vowing not to say anything well many things happened and to be out there I don’t want don’t even have time to go into details but good for him to be out there doing whatever he wants to do in terms of either tarnishing the image of the country or but by the way we also have information he’s going back to supporting these armed groups that so he will be lucky next time if he he’s caught doing what he’s he was doing even before when he he found himself facing justice but maybe he wants to keep trying his chances that’s an overstretch a bit but what I’m telling you is given his background that we have laid out there and the falsehood of his story we don’t have even time to go through that so that he has turned that into a profession there is nothing I can do about it but I can tell you for sure that he has no effect not a bit on on what will happen in Rwanda or in terms of progress or or otherwise you but you regret letting him out no I what happen I don’t have to regret anything I don’t give give him that importance to actually don’t think about him until you raise his name

As part of an exclusive interview with FRANCE 24, Rwandan President Paul Kagame reacted to recent comments by exiled opponent Paul Rusesabagina, who was depicted in the film “Hotel Rwanda” for his heroic role in saving people during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. Rusesabagina had promised not to speak out after he left Rwanda following his release from prison there on terrorism charges. He has since spoken to several media outlets, including FRANCE 24’s French channel. FRANCE 24’s Marc Perelman asked Kagame if he regretted his decision to release Rusesabagina.

  1. in Rwanda we know Rusesabagina, we know what he wants with he’s FDLR and heters and we know what he’s trying to do, but guess what? We love kagame and we stay strong, abazangu bazagufasha Rusesabagina but you will not achieve it, because we stand for the truth and that’s Real

  2. @Rusesabagina is a real proof of someone who is ideologically bankrupt, trust me if any visits Nyabimata in Rwanda where a terrorist group of the so called @Rusebagina killed people untill the security forces intervened and captured show the guy is of no contribution of the country at all cost.

  3. Rusesabagina is a no body and he's a hero to only those who made him a "hero" in a fiction movie. He actually charged the fleeing people that were seeking safety at the hotel and reported whoever didn't pay him to the genocidiers thus facing their death. And if the West thinks he will ever be a leader of Rwanda, they're day dreaming because Rwanda just like the rest of Africa is awake and aware of those the West perceive as "heros"

  4. Please France24 this Rwandan president is a professional liar ! There is no persecution of tutsis in the DRC as he is claiming. Congo has lost more than 10 million people because of him and the world must not be deceived by him. The illegal exploitation of the natural resources is his main objective and the lives of the Congolese is meaningless to him.
The accusations against him by the UN and other countries are correct. Kagame will regret one day as the blood of the Congolese will hunt him down

  5. H. E Paul Kagame i have a special message for you on my youtube channel regarding my confiscated properties and frozen money that happened last year 2023 in Rwanda and i am a rwandese,…which resulted me to flee the country and now I am asylum seeker… please kindly take time and understand my testimony I need my properties back and I don't deserve this suffering in exile, thank you

  6. okay if he is the dictator is Rusesabagina the one who has led the country this far? 😂 is Rusesabagina the one to lead the country?

It's not just about our past it's about our past present and future simple as that.

No need to fuss about someone we don't know much about. it's about action not just talk.
There many others who did what he supposedly did in the Genocide ( Rusesabagina), they don't use it negatively.

  7. Rwandans cannot speak anything opposing what the regime says otherwise they will face justice, Does anyone noticed this? Is it fair not to criticise the regime? There is probably more to this!

  8. If they love and admire rusesa so much, let them give him the elysee or the white house. Maybe he can govern both at once as an emperor. Otherwise they’re just deceiving him.
