Israeli hostages families express their anger after Netanyahu dismisses cease-fire proposal

those are the remarks that are really headlining here in Israel and uh really dogging the Prime Minister today after months and months of negotiations and War cabinet decisions and backing uh the latest us broker deal which was in some cases described as nany’s deal the Israeli deal which is a three-phase deal to bring out all the hostages 120 hostages in phases that would ultimately also bring what Israel called a permanent cessation to the hostilities what others called a permanent ceasefire suddenly Natan goes on uh the Israeli uh Network channel 14 and says no no no I only support right now a partial uh ceasefire I I’m he said I’m prepared to you know get some of our hostages out but I won’t give up the full fight against Hamas now you can understand why that has gone over so terribly here uh the Israeli families of those hostages are livid that the Prime Minister would consider you know either totally abandoning the hostages or bringing out some of them but not others um and many people are wondering now is this a new Israeli position what does this do for the chances of getting uh you know of actually reaching a ceasefire that the US uh is backing and pushing uh you can imagine there’s there’s been lots of tension between Natan and the White House over other comments with uh alleged delays in armed shipments now Natan seems to be going back on what he promised the Americans in this deal so you know this is uh actually many people here calling for natan’s office to clarify these remarks um you know which have uh really uh created a huge backlash here today

The viability of a US-backed proposal to wind down the 8-month-long war in Gaza was cast into doubt on Monday after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he would only be willing to agree to a “partial” cease-fire deal that would not end the war, comments that sparked an uproar from families of hostages held by Hamas.
