The *FT* is owned by Japanese financial news publisher Nikkei, which in turn is employee-owned.
The *Guardian* is owned by Scott Trust Ltd, which uses a £1.2bn endowment fund for “securing [the paper’s] financial and editorial independence in perpetuity and safeguarding its journalistic freedom and liberal values, free from commercial or political interference”. It often operates at a loss, last year of £59m.
The *Mirror*, the *Express*, and the *Star* are owned by the same company, Reach plc. Like most public companies, their largest shareholders are institutional: investment firms each holding 5–10% of the stock.
Three billionaires control the rest: The *Mail* and the *i* are owned by Lord Rothermere, the *Telegraph* by Frederick Barclay (no connection to Barclay’s bank), and the *Sun* and *Times* by Rupert Murdoch through News Corp.
Never change, Daily Mail.
But please shut down one day.
It’s kind of crazy to see newspapers explicitly telling people who to vote for on the day of the election. I’m fairly sure that’s outright illegal in our country.

Anyway, it’s interesting how one side’s rhetoric could be summarized as “let’s build a better future”, and the other side’s rhetoric as “let’s destroy the other side”.
Now I want to know what life is like in Britain’s smelliest village…
The Sun keeping it vague so they can pretend they were always supporting whoever wins.
But they vote this sunday, right? Not in the middle of a work week, right?
