On July 3, the russian army attacked a village in the Polohy district of the Zaporizhzhia region using a drone. As a result of the attack, a 36-year-old man, a father of seven children, was killed.
Maria Potapenko, a neighbor of the killed, said that the man had just stepped out of his backyard when a drop from a russian drone hit him:
“At first, he screamed. The guys dragged him further away because everything was there on fire. We carried water. The guys ran over with a fire extinguisher and put out the fire. I ran to fetch a towel to wash and wipe him, he was so covered in blood that I didn’t recognize him.”
The man was hospitalized, but doctors couldn’t save him.
“He moved his children out a year ago. He lived alone. The drone hovered over his yard and dropped a charge near him, about 10 meters away. They couldn’t help in time; they brought him to the hospital… but he couldn’t be saved.” was reported about the victim.
“He worked on a farm. He was a good, decent, and kind person,” the village head, Serhii Herus, said.
The village had over 600 residents before the 2022. Now there are only about 200. This is the second death among the villagers due to russian shelling. Previously, the settlement had been bombarded with cluster munitions, Grads, and air bombs by russian forces. Now, drone attacks have been added to the threats.
