Paris 2024 Olympics: Thousands of troops arrive in the French capital in security boost
after missions in Mali and Afghanistan these French soldiers have been deployed to Paris with 15 million visitors expected over the course of the Olympics securing the event is a top priority our mission is to secure Olympic and Par Olympic sites it’s the mission called Sentinel which we’ve come to know very well we reserve as an active military are very train for it a temporary military base has been set up less than 30 minutes away from all Olympic and the mammoth facility can house over 42,000 soldiers we’re heading into the barracks which we have for 2 and 1/2 months 15 soldiers are housed in each unit the barracks which were set up in under 3 months also have shower facilities a canteen and a medical center I’ve been in the Army for 40 years and I’ve never seen anything like this since the second world war this is the biggest base that’s been set up in Paris intents are operation centers to supervise the opening ceremony due to take place on the banks of the sen so it goes from securing the site based on whether there’s a stampede to if there’s an attack soldiers currently on Mission here continue to train and in this case neutralize an attacker we’ll be patrolling giving out information securing sites we need to be present at key locations be mobile be dissuasive but reassuring in total 15,000 soldiers will be deployed during the course of the games that’s in addition to 30,000 police officers and garms per day with a peak of 45,000 for the opening ceremony
There are just over two weeks to go until the Olympic Games kick off in Paris. Securing the games is top priority for France. Ahead of the opening ceremony, thousands of troops have arrived in the French capital.

Incase anyone's wondering why they have those hats/ berets it's a traditional alpine hat that has been worn by the people who live In the french alps region this unit is hence a "elite mountain" unit the people visiting should be thankful that the french are putting some of their best troops on detail for their safety the french foriegn legion is also on security for this event and has been doing security for french major cities and tourist attractions since the macron debacle of open borders and after all of the knife and box truck terror attacks back a few years ago when lacked immigration enforcement policies throughout Europe starting becoming the norm
